New New Newest Brug seed tryer!!!!

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

Hello everyone.....I have been lurking for a while now..I have planted 7 pink brug seeds,,,,18 days ago..This is what I have done...used a good potting medium..damped...soaked the seeds for 24 hrs...didn't take the shaft off...planted them about 1 inch deep...covered them over with soil...placed them on top of a 10 gal aquarium...with a 15 watt bulb under them....making the soil about 70 deg..sprayed them in the AM and PM...The container I have them in has a cover..but we tend to love them too death and water too much...and they get mildew..so just laid the top not tight and at an angle....My question...Yes I know it could take forever...but just wondering, if maybe there is something else I can do......Please be kind...to a newbie.....I know nothing of what I am doing........Help please....Wantabe--successful on Brug's (Diana)

DON'T OVERWATER THEM. Now that I've said that, you will do fine, I just know. You've come to the right place, there are lots of folks here that will help you.
Hey Guys!! We have another addict here!! Hurry and get her hooked really good, before she has a chance to get away.

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

***Dear oh Dear**** Well it is 30 days..I am lurking and seeing all these new babies coming up into view....Here I set...Looking and Looking....Moved the plant med. to the sun room....Nothing.....Have decided to take one more of my wonderful seeds and soak it over night...Take the cork off....and wrap in wet paper towel and put in baggy and back in sun room.....what do you think?....Also question?? If the seed floats on the top of the soaking water...is it still a good seed???? I am sure you all have discussed this..but I think I may have missed it.......Please...any help????

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Don't give up on the others !!!!!they could take months, some of mine took a month, some 2 months! Some others havent come up YET!

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

Oh dear,,,,,I may have to go a thousand miles to find one all ready up.....lol....Just kidding...! sniff sniff

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

don't plant it quite so deep. just a thought. I usually plant 1/4 to 1/2" deep at most. I don't know that it's ever been said how deep though! And I did have some come up after one month!

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Welcome... wantabe you have come to the right place I do plant about the same a tiG.. I water them once good then place clear plastic rap on them until the germanate.
Pete

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

oh well, I think I did 1 inch....but the new one I will plant tomorrow , I can try more shallow.....thanks you all.....I am known to over water though.....I am the mildew queen....hehehe I gotta watch that....Wantabe-a-brug-mom!

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

me too ,gotten some seeds.
First soaked in warm water(50C) for 24hrs.
and then wrapped them in a cloth, and then
put inside my clothes close to my skin for
three days.wow, the little "worms"have popped out their heads.well, now i am in great need of conduct.
what shall i do next step?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Geesh Jianhua... that's an interesting technique! I'll have to try that ;o) ... 3 days! Did you peel the cork from the seeds?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Jianhua, i am impressed also! hope someone comes by to tell you.... i guess plant!

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

Jianhua-----my goodness you are good ...ROTFL.....heck.....He can produce a germation of a seed in 3 days with doing it his way...And I have been trying for 30 days.....Dear oh dear "What a good body, he must have" we are laughing with him not at him......I am going to have to try that...!

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

Gee, help us out here please.......someone quick....what a dedicated seed sprouter, and he needs help......

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Since I've never done it this way :-) I'd say if they have sprouted that it is definitely time to plant in soil at about 1/2 inch deep and like several people have already said, don't overwater. I'm like you, Wantabe......got to try this method. I wonder if I'm supposed to sleep with them too?

Don't give up on the seeds. I've found that the CG seeds take about 6 weeks for me and suaveolens takes even longer. I've had some pop up in 2 weeks, but not all will. TiG is the seed starting Queen as is Eric the King of seeds, you should listen to them!!

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

Well tomorrow,,,,,,After soaking seeds...I will wrap..them in wet what ever....and am taping them to me....Hehehe....If Jianhua, can do this...it will work for me...and I have many more folds than he has...and yes...I will sleep with them....I am getting desperate....He may have the answer, for quick germenation....I will let you know....He has something here......for sure...to be cont....

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

From an old veggie farmer i got the old experience
--silly but practical. :(
yes, i know brugs are not easy to germinate,
so as soon as i got the seeds i buried them in the damp sand.and then... soaked, and then warmed and then sprouted.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Jianhua, i hope you'll share more of these ways of doing things. obviously old veggie farmers are the experts here! wondering if i wear them next to my heart.lol.

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

Close to your heart,Arlene?
I don't think it is necessary for you to wear them close to your heart.you know,a seed does not need milk,it needs
warmth.(just kidding).

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

rofl, thanks i needed a good laugh....

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I think I've read about this method before... but I can't remember where. What's normal body temp ... 98.sumthin? That's pretty warm when you think of germination temps. I wonder if they'd do better in a warmer area... maybe on top of the TV which is always on.

Everyone must think we're really wacky. I can just imagine all the brug-heads with seed packets stuffed in their bras.

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

Heheheh.....still giggling about this....I am now wearing mine.....I think we have it wrong though.....Jianhua will correct us I am sure......Stay tuned...check in tonight or tomorrow......Wantabe a Brug mom!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

okay, I'm fixing to 'stuff' some!!! LOL! my body temp is usually about 96.7 so maybe that might be better!

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

Gee, tiG.....your pretty cool...96.7...I have no clue what mine is.......hehe Every time I think of it I laugh...Does that make my temp go up?.....Sure does make me feel better though...(Wantabe a Brug mom!)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

hey, I am cool, huh? No one can ever tell me different from now on, I can give them proof! LOLOLOLOL

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Gee tiG,your cooler than me,I'm 97.4

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

how long do i leave the thermometer between my body and seeds to get a good temp reading?lol....btw, thought my kid would die.. i about died laughing telling him...

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Y'all have gone completely over the edge. Wonder how many seeds will fit in my bra?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Cala, if you borrow one of mine, you can put all the seeds you have in it!!

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

Well this is what i did...If Jianhua, comes in he can correct me,,,,I took them off me....DH went out and got the bag of sand we always keep....filled a container....put the newer seeds in the sand...with some water...Than I will leave them there for 30 days...this makes the cork, come off....dig them up....after that and soak in clear water for 24 hrs....Than wrap them up in a paper towel or clean small wet rag...and I am going to put them in a baggy....and try and have them germinate in 3 days like he did....I missed the sand part...But now I have some, that have been in dirt...for 30 days...I may take them out...and soak them in water...and put them in paper towel wet...and put them back in the baggy...and put them were the others were....I am willing to do anything....One of you wonderful folks are going to send me some... So I am so happy about that...but I sure would like to get these little babies, to hatch....Wantabe a "Brug" momma

Y'all are so funny. LOL

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

Hey I didn't say where I was putting them....lol Just that I am going to bring these babbies into this world...Or die trying........lol......Wantabe a brug momma..!

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

Attention...I am a proud moma...and Busybee, is a grandmother...Now all I have to do is keep it growing..It doesn't look as strong as I thought one would look like....There are still 7 more in there...we will see...guess I can say now...Wantabe momma trying to keep it growing..

This is better than any joke book I have ever read, but if it works, so be it.

Maybe if I can keep the secret from my DH, I can have some luck getting some started. If he ever found out, he'd send me to the "Funny Farm"

Congrats Wantabe and Busybee, lol' I've been "lurking" this morning and OMG,this thread makes my day, lol' My DH will get "suspicious" if I put ON a bra, lol' Like the old joke how many people can ya get in a volkswagon? What about "brugs in a bra"??? I knew there was a better use for the [profanity removed] things, lol'

Jerome, MI(Zone 5b)

Love it all of you.....Yes laughing makes me happy, and right now I sure could use that...lol hehehe....Sick puter is no fun....So this makes my day.....later..Happy Wantabe Mom....The rest will hatch I am sure....!
