OK, y'all talked me into this. I went into the green house today and took several 1-2" cuttings and laid them on their sides in pots to see how they would do. I took Candida Species, Frosty Pink, Jamaica Yellow and Jean Pasco. The ones in this photo are Candida Species. Eric, you've created another obsession!! This is looking straight down into the pot.
tiny cuttings part 2
Cala,
Are you saying you just cut them off the plant and laid them in the soil with no roots? I have done that on some that was growing in the ground and to my surprise they grew.
Are those the green tip cuttings from the very ends of the branches?
Poppysue, those were the tips of some hardwood cuttings I had rooting. I noticed that there was more than one sprout on the stem, so I figured I would see just how they will do. I think it was TiG that said she took little bitty cuttings, so I thought I would try and see.
I took a green stem, cut it into 5 pieces, each with just one node. I covered the green ones, per Eric, but I didn't cover the hardwoods but halfway at first. I also did this with Rosea, wanting to share at the swap. They're coming up too.
tiG, that Rosea pic in LBJ looks interesting. Would you happen to have an extra cutting I could have for postage?
Owen
Cala, how long did it take for those lil cuttings to sprout into those nice looking babies? I am guessing about a month.
I have tried two logs so far and they both rotted. I will have numerous varieties to get logs from this coming fall though "smile". Am anxious to share with the newbies then, as well as those oldies who have been generous with me.

I will have to look at the tag to be sure, but a month sounds right.
Owen, I'll put you on the list. It's kindof long right now.
tiG.....could I go on the list too???
Suzy
This is such an interesting forum, though I have one, I haven't spotted one at the Huntington Gardens, now I will ask about this Genus, and see where they have them. Are there any rules about Calif. receiving these plants? Norma
Yes, several of the Western states have restrictions on plants that are shipped in. Call your Dept. of Agriculture and ask them to send you a list of restrictions.
They grow Brugs in CA. LBJ's nursery is there. Would that mean that they are okay to ship in? Doesn't Marjory live in CA too??
suzy I put you down.
I wanna go to the swap, I wanna go to the swap, wahhhhhhh! :(
I'm going to start saving my pennies, invite myself to the swap, post my plants from the swap back home and then return like I'm cool as a cucumber.
Crestedchick, like you I wanna go to the swap too. Maybe we could whine in unison.
Joydie
tiG, thanks. But if you run out that's fine, cause I have more brugs now anyway than I have sense:) I hope to get some winners from some of these seeds I have been planting too; will share cuttings this fall when available.
Owen
Oh goody,Whinning in stereo!!!!!!I wanna go too........
Thanks tiG......Suzy
