My dad is originally from New York and remembers having the long green Italian peppers. We have been looking for them for a long time and we are not sure what they are called. I found one type that I think they might be..corno di toro..
If anyone has some of what I am trying to explain, would love to trade or do a SASE. My dad would be so excited. I am getting his veg. garden soil ready for spring planting now.
Thanks,Donna
Italian frying peppers
i am trying those peppers this yr. and am hoping the samething lol. i would offer to share with you but i've already shared this packet and none left sorry. i looked and looked i think this is the type your father is thinking about. but if he is anything like my father tell him the name and he will like it because it's italian. lol.
Donna, email peppergal@mindspring.com she lists these in her catalog. packs are 1.50 each and she has the red and yellow. doesn't take credit cards, but if you tell her what you want, you may not have to wait for the catalog, you can just set it up through email. good luck
SoCal,
I remember those Italian frying peppers myself. As I recall, though, they were one of the green when ripe varieties.
If the ones he wants are green when ripe, than corno di Toro (horn or the bull) isn't the one he's looking for. Those ripen either red or yellow. But they are a great tasting pepper.
There are dozens of frying peppers, however, all of which taste pretty similar---especially the green when ripe ones.
If you want corno di Toro, though, I can send you some for an SASE. Let me know.
