Howdy! :) How are you guys doing today?

That George Foreman grill had some recipes with it, one of which is for low-fat/low cholesterol breakfast sausage patties made with ground turkey. It sounds really GOOD! I think I'll post it in the recipe forum - I'll link to it from here for ya. More below...

Today's "Devotion for Dieters"
by Dan R. Dick (copr. 1989)

Proverbs 11:18 - http://bible.whitinger.net/showverse.php3?vid=16707

It seems too easy to cheat on a diet. There are so many good things to eat, and it doesn't seem like it could hurt to cheat just a little. The problem is, when we try to convince ourselves that a little cheating is okay, then we never seem to draw the line, and a little cheating becomes a lot of cheating. When we are deceitful with outselves, we find ourselves in big trouble. It is much better for us to do what we know is right, avoiding the things we know will give us trouble. When we stick to our diets, then we can expect nothing but reward.

Today's Thought: There's no such thing as cheating just a little!

~~~~~~
Ok, 'fess up time. This is why I'm a big advocate of building into your diet the means for some pleasure. If you count that occasional (little) bag of M&M's in your calories/fat and that keeps you from going out and buying the huge bag and downing it in one sitting, I think that's a good thing.
Of course, you're "spending" your calories on empty calories in that case, but sometimes it's a good trade-off. I know this flies in the face of conventional dieting, but I know it worked for Howie when he originally lost 190 pounds, and it's working for him now - and for me. If I can't ever have pizza, or chocolate, or ice cream, I crave them and can end up really binging. To me that's a lot worse than the occasional planned decadence. :)
