Golden Lady Picture#3

Please excuse the foot..LOL
The flower is now completely open...the color is a little darker then this picture...was very bright in the greenhouse. I just pollinated this flower with Jean Pasco and will continue to do it again a few more times today. There is a lot of buds on the Golden Lady and I will have a frosty pink opening in the next day or so....a double F.Pink would be cool too...just dreaming here. I am going to keep the pollen from the GL...do I have to freeze the pollen or just keep it in the fridge?

Very nice Gloria. You freeze pollen after you dry it. I don't know about keeping it in the frigerator as I have never tried that. Does that double produce a lot of pollen or just marginal pollen? Did you have to split the anthers open to get all of the pollen out on that hybrid? Look at me asking questions as if I had that one myself. Well, I have one very similar although I don't plan on keeping it very long.

JP sounds like a good pollen donator for this one. Hope you get it to work. I can't wait to try this summer. I read someplace that you freeze the pollen, but someone with more information than me should really answer this one. Just a beautiful bloom Gloria.

Sorry, Eric and I must have been posting at the same time.

The pollen is marginal....the flower is turning a little darker but maybe the more it blooms the darker it get? Barb has this one and the picture she posted is light colored also. Doesn't look like it will live up to it's name Golden...but it is cute.

Very nice double Gloria. But, like you, I think naming it a golden color is stretching it quite a bit:) I would have named it double cream.

More of my Jamacian Yellow blooms opened today.....and I think calling it yellow is possibly stretching it....more like very pale yellow to me:) It's my very first brug to bloom, but think I will give it away and make space for more colorful and more fragrant varieties:)

Glory, that is a beauty. You did good!

Owen,
My Jamican yellows are yellow... I agree with you that they don't smell especially good....maybe yours is pale since it is blooming inside?

Gloria....you are right:) I just put it outside in the sunshine (warm here today). It looks much yellower now! I guess it is a keeper after all:)
