If any of you get a message from me or anyone about party pictures, don't open the link to yahoo, com. It gives you a virus. I can't see that I have it, but rather be safe than sorry.
I may have gotten a virus on computer
Deanne
I got a email virus about 4 months ago. I did not know that I even had it and it attached itself to my address list and sent itself out to all the people. It all started with a email from a friend (who did not know that it had attached itself to her address book) and I did try to open it. This kind of virus spreads before you know it or even know that you have it. I went to McAfee and subscribed for a 90 day free trial and they scan your hard drive and will tell you if there is anything there and sure enough it was there. I have a virus program on my computer but they are out of date a month after you get them. Be careful and make sure your hard drive is clean.
Yep, viruses are sneaky little things! When I get anyting via e-mail with a suspicious attachment, I either delete it or e-mail the person who sent it asking if they, in fact, did send it and what it is. A couple of times, the sender didn't send it and found out that they had a virus that was previously unknown to them.
Here are a few sites where you can find out more on viruses and e-mail hoaxes:
http://vil.mcafee.com/hoax.asp http://securityresponse.symantec.com/ http://www.gerlitz.com/virushoax/ The first two are in the business of writing software to keep viruses out of your computer, so they know about viruses almost as soon as they are written and sent out.
Good luck, Deanne! I hope you get everything back to normal soon!
Now I know why my Pegasus won't load 5 messages that are waiting for me. I do like this mais program after I got used to it. I'm having a little trouble sending mail, but it's a problem with my cable and not Pegasus. I'm waiting on my ISP to send me a disk so I can re do it.
A good way to find out you got a virus that attaches to your address book is to place a foney address in your book that starts with a "A" so its at the top if you get one and mails itself you will get that message that your mail can't be sent and you will know that you didn't send it

An even better way is not to use an address book.Keep e mail addresses the old fashioned way.And never open an attachment unless you verify it.If you use one of the online e-mail services such as Hotmail or Yahoo you can open the attachment online. They also keep their virus scanners updated daily.
This one was from Yahoo, but said it would send to any e-mail it found on your system. I did put !0000 as my first listed person in my e-mail. Didn't get any returned mail, so I should be OK.
