I am wishing i had G2S fields and equipment right here, trying to figure where i am going to plant them all!

LOL....LOL...Here we go again.

Arlene...Just had Ronbob build a very large raised Brug Bed....should hold 12 Brugs...now what do I do with the other 40 or so of them. LOL

My DH is gonna go nuts. i always ask his opinion on planting things, he always says "anywhere i can mow around". we've been here 15 years and the oaks just keep closing us in and i keep spreading out from the house to get into the sun. anyway, he's gonna have less to mow again this year.

how deep did you have to make your raised bed? did you layer organic stuff so the roots can get through into the ground?

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Hey Gloria, I have an acre an half if you need to find them a home. hehehe Dee

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Arlene... looks just like it before it open I was thinking that it was yellow like the ones in the link
A chainsaw will take care of the oak trees just make sure it doesn't fall on the brugs.....lol

The bed are 2ft deep....yes, I did use layer organic stuff. I think I had about a foot of decomposed matter plus a foot of mixed leaves....maple, bald cypress, pine needles and some Magonila leave. I also have 32 garbage bags of shredded leaves held in reserve in the composter....I'm ready for what ever. LOL

Arlene
How hot does it get there in the summer? Do you plant in full sun? The temperature here gets to 100 in the summer and I am running out of shade from afternoon sun. Can they be planted in full sun in extreme heat?

Double post

Frannie,
It is very hot here in the summer....we get just about the same weather as you...Hot and Humid.
I try and give mine afternoon shade but sometimes I can't.....so they get watered everytime I turn around. Brugs love water and food. The new raised bed will only get afternoon sun for a very short time if any....now if I could talk my DH out of his boat shed.....NOT

Dee...when you come to MS next month are you gonna come by and pick up your plants from me?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

It gets hot and humid here too. Glory is right, i watered almost every day it didn't rain til about november. gonna use that watersorb. still trying to figure out, generally they bloom more the more sun they get, right? i do have some planted in morning sun only.

Thanks for all the info. I guess lots of water seems to be the key and food. If planted in the spring, I assume that they become acculamated to the heat and do ok. Gloria, you and Arlene do have the same temperature and humidity that I have. I don't miss that heat at all - but I do miss the flowers outside. I guess we just can't have it all!
