Panhandle swap #4

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

To get it started.Almost 30 people have already said they are coming. This could be big!

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Is there anything else that we need to do? Never been to one, so not sure what all is involved. Let's see we have the proposed following:
Date - 16 Mar
Time - 10:00 ish
Where - De Funiak Springs (flea market??)
Hotel - Info already posted

There was talk of money for reserving the place. Is that needed???
Sorry, but my DH calls me an organizer, I don't think so, but...I just don't like loose ends.
Wrapping up with a visit to Earl's at Valley Grow. I have already talked to him and he has that day blocked for us.
Tell me if I am rushing things, I can tend to get ahead of myself sometimes.

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Is that 30 people + there spouses or did you count them???

30 people...that's great....should we wear name tags?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I think everybody should post their photo before we meet, and then we will try to put faces with names. Of course, I don't need to post another pic, y'all have done seen me too many times already!!

But you're so cute Cala and so young.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

ill be the tall one, lol
jen

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

I will be the pot-bellied,balding one who is taller than Msjen.
Irish...that wasn't an accurate count just a quick questimate from the list.I did count spouses that were mentioned.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Dee....you forgot the most important thing.....food.I vote for McClains. They have a good reputation.
I am going to rent three tables on the outside. That and our pickup beds should be space enough.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

FOOD, I can't believe I forgot the food and I love food. It doesn't matter to me. I can go out to eat or stuff a bologna sandwich in my mouth as long as it is something.

g2s how much would you like me to send you. If I put in the mail, you should get in a day or so. Can we get a count of the pickups to see how many we have?? I have one.

Oh no, I don't like pictures. I do them once a year with the kids. Can't we just do name tags??? Dee

Got a pickup here.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Dee,no money necessary.Table rent there will not be much.
I have a toy pickup.Look for the red Nissan.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

g2s, if you are sure. If you change your mind or something comes up let me know. My pickup is dark F150, however, since I live on a dirt road it is usually covered with red dirt or dust. Dee

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

I am not aloud to take the truck :o(

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

You won't be coming anyway Irish. When Mrs.Irish finds out this romantic anniversary weekend is really a Brug swap for you she is going to kill you.We will,of course, send flowers.

What about Confederate rose cuttings. These are the double pink turning dark pink and I think I have the white turning pink. Have to double check. Have lots of cuttings with roots on them. Dee

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Anyone interested in visiting an orchid greenhouse if it can be arranged? He's not commercial I don't think, but I can ask if he sells them too.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I love orchids. I have a few and I think my vandas I let get chilled are recovering!!

Cala,
I have not tried to grow orchids....is that something I should be doing? Do they need any special attention?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Its a plant,of course you should be doing it!!!LOL

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

CC, good answer!! Yes Gloria, you need some orchids. There are so many kinds. I would start with a dendrobium or a phal. They are both pretty easy. I do love my vandas too. They were doing great till I let them get chilled. They ae going to lose some leaves, but talked to a girl in SA and she said they will recover. I've also started buying unblooming seedlings and waiting to see what they turn into!!

CC...If I drag another plant in this yard old Ronbob(Ron) will shoot me....oh well he's not a very good shot. LOL

Cala,
What's the coldest temp they can handle?

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

yes lets do it

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Cala, will email you a trade addy, a friend of mine here (the one i met at GW whose father i worked with in the 70s) has a huge greenhouse full of things i cannot pronounce. she has all kinds of orchids, meat eating plants. most of the year she has orchids all over her oak trees. might see if she wants to come, she has 2 small kids, will see. Dee, i met regina at this lady's house, have been at trades with her a few times since.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Arlene, then if you don't mind and think it is alright I will add her to the plant swap list I am making. I already have her email. She gave me such alot of info when I wanted to grow a Heliconcia (sp?) Dee
