nice pic mine stay out side and the cooler weather and wind has made mime look sick except for the ones that are under four foot.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Looking good. How many brugs do you have total now? What is that pale pink one top left? Do you hybridize? Look at me......just full of questions. It is just so nice to see everyones pictures that are full of green and blooms. Nothing but brown here.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

The pale pink is an "Arlene" :>) Also blooming are "Becca Lynn","Jamaican Yellow","Valley White"and C.Grimaldi/JO.
As for how many Brugs I have no idea.Lots.I think more than 60 named varieties. Most are still very small.
Can't wait for spring.Tilled the garden this afternoon and planted collards and onions.I've got to get to work on the Brug beds so I will have a place to put these.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I need to move south, lol.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Me to Cala. I just sit here and drool when I hear these stories. Tilling garden? Ours if frozen solid. I do have onions growing in the house though.

JT, do you ever trade cuttings? I might have something different by the end of summer.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

G2S, I love the way your farm looks, reminds me of growing up!! so "arlene" is what i used to think might have been named frosty pink but isn't wasn't, and who knows what i'll think it is tomorrow? roflao! beautiful brugs.....did you get any pods from your pollination attempts???????

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

JT - can you see me?? I'm the one waaay up here - I'm the green one - yup - that's me - green with envy!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Well, I did get to go out today and weed the flower beds. It was beautiful sunny day here. My brugs in the garden are dead to the ground, but at least the ones in the green house are green!!

JT, those are beautiful. What a nice collection of blooming brugs for January.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Wow! So nice to see such nice plants and pretty flowers growing outside this time of year. Alls I have in my yard is about 2 ft of that cold white stuff.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Arlene,no pods are evident yet.I am still hoping. How long after the bloom falls off will I see a definite pod?I see little cones now.Very small.

G2S: That little cone should be the beginning of the seedpod. Careful not to knock them off. Calla uses duck tape on hers. Just joking. LOL

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Brugcrazy, I switched from duck tape to super glue, lol. I lost a few pods this week. Don't know if it was from the GH getting too chilly last week or because they got too dry while it was so cloudy. The CG X Jean Pasco didn't take at all, and I lost some FP X JP crosses. I may have used the pollen at the wrong time, still haven't figured it out. This is the first time I've had pods fall since Eric told me how to pollinate.(i.e. no CG X CG)

JT,
You have done well. Do you put the Brugs back in the greenhouse every night?

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

WOW.. Full of GREEN!!! Here zone 9. still too cold for my BRUGS..... few nights it go down to 30's. It's going to be warm up again.. Horray!!!!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Oh ,they look so happy and healthy....Spring,will it ever be Spring.....Sigh......

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

JT they are beautiful. What a lovely place you have.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Gloria,I don't move them in and out every night.I watch the weather and if anything below 45 is predicted in they go.
This gives me a 10-12 degree safety margin in case the weather person is off a few degrees.
Brugnanny, the place isn't beautiful, just functional. We do try to keep the largest trash picked up.As you can see,in the upper right corner of the photo,I need to spend some time repainting and repairing the barn. Can't imagine why.It was painted only 12 years ago.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

OK, the cuttings that I have received are doing really well soooo, how long before mine look like that??? Dee

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

I also received some cuttings and they look great but it is hard to imagine those sticks will resemble your photo!
Connie

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Dee and Weeds...those were sticks in August.I can not believe how fast "Becca Lynn"grew. It is the largest one in the foreground.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

JT, i can't believe you had no brugs until August. Wonder where those first cuttings i mailed to you are sitting rotted at?

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

OK, mine are in little 4 inch pots, a couple in gallon pots, when do you suggest they get moved up. Are they just like kids, you don't want to rush them ahead of their age group, or are they like little smarties, you push. If you put them in a pot that is too big, will this cause them to grow slower??? Dee

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Dee, since you are in florida, will share my view based on the ones i have grown, the bigger pot you put it in the faster it seems to grow. in well prepared ground is even better. this is my experience. i generally root plants in at least gallon pots, up to 3 gallon pots. had about 20 cuttings last summer that went from unrooted to over 2 feet tall in 2 months, the 3 gallon pots half a foot taller at least than the ones in 1 gallon pots. took a culebra less than 6 inches tall, was three feet tall and blooming in about 4 months, and they are considered slow growers. osmocote and water every day helps (when it isn't winter here for a few weeks).

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Arlene, I was thinking about putting them in the ground, now you know that the soil (ha, what soil, sand is all)we have is sandy. Does it need to be amended really well, or will just plain ole ground dirt work on them?? When do you put yours in the ground? I think our temps are about the same. Don't want to brag guys but we are supposed to hit 80 today. sure wish I was off work. Dee

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Arlene, the pink is one of yours, the one in the center, rear
is your Frosty pink that bloomed earlier.
Dee,I agree with Arlene. The bigger the pot the faster they grow.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Dee, soil has to be amended really well. even tho i did this with the ones i planted last year, am going to add watersorb to the ones going into the ground as i had to water almost every day last summer or they would wilt in the middle of the day. they have shallow lateral roots that go forever so preferrably a wide hole. i am not sure about putting in the ground now, would pretty much say first of march. they can take a light, short frost very well though. i am guessing we won't have a nasty frost again this year, 30F around sun up with a quick warm up is like no frost at all.
