need mouse help

trying to put old computer back together now that I have time and the parts. It doesn't recognize my mouse. But when I get to device manager it shows a mouse. Tried removing so it can find it again, but you have to click on the word mouse to show which one you have to remove it, and I can't click cause I don't have a mouse.
help.....
