Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Here are my little seedlings from the sanguinea seeds I bought. I kept 5 and shared 5 with Stormy. The seedlings are so much bigger than the other brug seedlings.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Nice chubby little stems Cala. Looking good!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Don't they look good!! (bragging a little) Wonder how long from seed to bloom? Liz, I think you are the expert on this one. I did move them to the edge of the heat mat, sort of still warmer than the greenhouse but not as hot as the mat.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

I'm in no way an expert on these but I can tell you that I cut back one of my sanguineas and turfed it outside last week and it looks better out there than inside in the GH. They seem to like it on the cool side. I'd not let it get too warm on the mat. But your little guys look happy just where they are. So go figure ~

Congrats with these little fellows *lol* Was these also on your truck, when you drove to fas .... I meanet all to slowly to your greenhouse with the large Brugs. You can something with these Brugs *lol* Lots of fruits just waiting for you to pick them and now these little guys showed up *lol* I sowed sanguinea 14 days ago, but none have shown yet ... I feel like diggin one or two up to see, what happens down there ... I am NOT impatient ... I am not ... *lol*

Tonny,
for some reason I have a hard time believing that you are not impatient. LOL It has gotten to the point that I try not to even look at my Brug pods when I go into the Greenhouse.....Boy it's hard. LOL

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

I have 5 Sang seedlings and they just got the first set of true leaves on them.I have them in 6 packs. How big should they be before you put them into individual pots?

Snow, I germinated one seeds of B. suaveolens five years ago and put it into a larger pot, when it got two sets of true leaves. I will look through my photos and see, if I can find a picture from way back when *lol*

Glory, It is hard *lol* If I had it my way I would properly dig them up and re-bury them again ten times a day just to see, if something happened *lol* It must be the sixth state of serious Brugaholics *lol* Boy!!! Glory, I think you are in the sixth stage too *lol* It must be THE Brug-fever ... Doctor, - anyone in here ... Are there a cure ... I am beginning to have a Brug obsession ... thinks of them every place I go and I am starting to make people go crazy from hearing about them *lol* : D

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Thanks Tonny.I just don't want to disturb their roots too soon.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Look good and hope it will grow great.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Glory, I've started doing that too. I barely look at the pods when I go into the green house. I want to go in and be "surprised" one morning!!!
I agree with Tonny, wait for the second set of true leaves before transplanting. Tonny, I'm thinking it took at least a month for these to come up, maybe even 6 weeks. Don't go digging in that pot of seeds, remember what happened to mine when I did that.

I think I will leave my seedlings until they are a few inches tall just to be sure they have lots of roots before I dig them out. I would hate to lose any at this stage of the game.

United Nations Journal of Brugsmansia Anonymous
..."if you start to see brugs in your sleep this is a sure sign that you have a serious addiction. Symptoms may include any of the following-digging around in the soil to see roots, poking at seed pods to see if they are ripe, excessive buying of books on brugs and daturas, placing orders for seeds/plant cuttings through eBay, excessive trading and swapping. Get help immediately by acquiring more seeds or cuttings."

haha

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

LOL. All those symptoms sound familiar.Guess I better get some help. :)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I didn't think I was THAT bad till you put it into words,I am truley a sick person,as treatment I think I should quit my job and stay home with the brugs.....

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

That might help the problem CC but the only cure is to get more, more and more Brugs till there's no more room for even a Fungus Knat to find a place to land and rest.LOL

New cure for symptoms of compulsive trading and Purchasing of Brugs.

Excerpt
...."The United Nations Journal of Brugsmansia Anonymous today announced a controversial cure for Obsessive Compulsivity around Brugmansia. A "12 Step Program" has been introduced as Brugmansia Addiction is now globally recognized as a disease by the United Nations Health International Organization.

The 12 Step Program includes first working with a "Buddy" and trading cuttings. The 1st Buddies must compare collections and trade for those plants they do not have.

Step 2.
Hand pollinate all flowers to ensure seed production for future progeny.

Step 3.
Collect and save pollen to share with other fellow Brug Addicts.

Step 4.
Whenever possible purchase plants from overseas ie. Hawaii, Europe, and Canada. Keep plants contained on your property for at least 2 years before transmitting the addiction to others.

Step 5.
Whenever possible purchase seeds from numerous sources, eBay, fellow Brug Addicts, overseas suppliers, local growers. Grow plants to maturity before taking cuttings or sharing seeds with others.

Step 6.
Document your collection of Brugsmansia by taking numerous pictures of flowers and post on Davesgardenweb. Pictues must be clear and labelled.

Step 7.
Try the Brugman's "log planting method". Break out of old habits and experiment.

Step 8.
Obsessively plant both hardwood and leafy cuttings.

Step 9.
Prune back plants in fall and plant the cuttings to share in spring with others. A more suitable solution is to trade cuttings in fall.

Step 10.
Organize "Harwood cuttins Fall Swap" in several climatic regions globally.

Step 11.
Hybridize, hybridize, hybridize!!

Step 12.
Repeat all of the above with new buddies regularly. The more "Buddies" you have the better the cure.

In reaction to the new Brugmansia Addiction 12 Step Program, the United States took a rather hard nosed stand regarding importation of Brugmansia from foreign countries. In an effort to deal with this new disease affecting Americans, the U.S. is attempting to halt the importation of Brugmansia by tightening up on import regulations. Further updates will follow.

National Brugmansia Enquirer

Excerpt
..." a racy photo of a 'nekkid' Brugmansia plant was posted on Davesgardenweb. The nude, leafless plant was considered risque and distasteful to Brugmansia Addicts. A group of concerned 'Mothers Against Nude Brugmansia Plants' gathered in Washington to protest the photograph. A spokesperson for the group demanded that the photograph be removed immediately as it is X-Rated and not suitable for future growers of Brugsmansia. A Million Mothers Against Nude Brugmansia Plants March is planned for June of 2002 with demonstrations throughout the world in support of solidarity.

A Special News bulletin interrupted George Bush's speech in the White House bringing the Senate to a stand still. Brugmansia Addicts stormed the Senate carrying placards and shouting, "Down with President Bush!"

Prime Minister Cretien denounced Bush's stand on Importing Brugmansia from Canada into the United States stating that it disregards unilateral Free Trade Agreements between Canada and the United States. Cretien stated that he will not support the United States on this Importation matter and threatens to halt the flow of plants from the United States into Canada as a form of retalliation.

England responded to Bush with a resounding "Pushaw, rot and Humbug Bush!" A European alliance appears to be in the works. France, Sweden and Germany threaten to uproot all of Bush's garden and to pull out plants at the Whitehouse.
A suspicious figure was seen today pruning Bush's roses."

In the News Today
...Family of Brugsmansia Addicted Persons Coalition threathened to sue Brugsmansia Growers globally. Husbands believe that the scent of Brugmansia flowers is responsible for the rapid onset of this fatal Brugmansia Addiction disease. Wives are planting Brugmansia in every available room within their homes. Many are attempting to convince their DH to build greenhouses, convert garages to greenhouses or add numerous additions to their home in order to house their growing collections. It is rumoured that many of the wives feign a greenhouse business, but at year end tax time, no business taxes are filed.

"Its the ruin of the family structure," one husband was cited as saying. "She used to play Bingo with her girl friends at the church on the nights that I went out with my buddies, but now she's obsessed with her plants. A young 14 year old stated, "When I come home from school supper is not ready. Instead Mom's downstairs watering her plants or potting up cuttings. She ordered in pizza again tonight for the 4th time this week. This week she's outside between intermittent rain building a greenhouse, as if we don't have enough plants already. I can't even have my friends over anymore as she continually asks them if they can save yogurt cups for her so she can plant more seeds."

It is rumoured the Family of Brugmansia Addicted Coalition hired expert lawyer Johnny Cochran to represent their case in the highest United States Court of Law. Cochran refused to comment when approached by the media...

Weather Report
Dropping temperatures tonight, be sure to bring your Brugmansia indoors.

News reporters are said to have arrived at the home of one said Newbie Brugmansia Addict in Ontario, Canada. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police raided the home of "Joydie" and found 50 cuttings of the addictive Brugmansia growing in 3 1/2 inch pots. Outside, construction of a Brugmansia Greenhouse was underway and the local Municipality are said to be putting a halt to construction.

Surveillance cameras were on the premises with special alarms to warn the owner of the home when tresspassers entered the property. An undercover agent prowled around the property last night and with the aid of a flash light spotted the Brugmansia on shelving under grow lights. The occupants must be heavy sleepers as no one seemed to have heard the alarms. Neighbours called the local police when the alarms sounded. Police arrived on the scene and found the undercover agent still peeking through the southern exposure windows admiring the growth of the Brugsmansia.

By noon the local 'Radical Feminist for Greenhouse Building for Brugmansia Group' arrived with power tools in hand to defie the Municipality Building Department. A spokesperson for the group said construction will continue in the absence of the owner.

The said owner Joydie was arrested and released on bail until a court date is set. Neighbours were shocked. "She's a marvellous woman, so kind. Every year she gives me plants from her garden. You can't find a kinder person." Another neighbour voiced her opinion. "I'm glad they put a halt to the greenhouse construction. I'm jealous. She was a wonderful southern exposure in her back yard and can grow anything. My front garden faces south and I have no privacy for gardening. My back yard faces north and is too shaded for any plants that I love. I hear she has a small pond too. Besides, I've always wanted a greenhouse and she beat me to it. Brugmansia, why should she grow them when the rest of us can't even get them!"

We attempted to speak with Joydie. "Johnny Cochran advised me not to speak to anyone. I have no answers for you, talk to my lawyer." The question now arises, how could she afford Cochran? Speculation suggests that she may have insider funding sources.

To be continued this afternoon after the Opray Winnfrey Show.
