I have Charles Grimaldi setting buds. Now they are very teeny at this point, but also have an unknown setting buds in the backroom. When can I get pollen (how early, can I freeze it, etc) and who out there has some stunner pollen right now or soon??
looking for pollen donor
Tig, I have a Whiskers with buds, I will take a picture of the size tomorrow. I will also check to see if EP has any buds on it. The only pollen I have right now is Suaveolens white and CG, not much help.
oh whiskers would be great if we can time it right. Mine are teeny, so maybe yours are just enough ahead.
Another dumb question!!!! How do you collect pollen and what do you keep it in. I am totally inexperienced in this and it seems that there would be such a tiny amount in each flower. How do you carefully get it out and save it? Remember I am totally inexperienced at this - give me details. When the day comes that I can do this, I want to be prepared..
I'd hate for some good pollen to get delayed, and the cost wouldn't really make it wise. would be a good cross though! maybe I can get this from Cala this time. thank you though, you're a sweetheart!
edited cause I got the wrong donor:)

Brugnanny
There is quite a bit of pollen in each flower. Poppysue collected it on q-tips and put in a film container and sent to me. I pulled the anthers off and put in a baggie (probably NOT the best method). I'm thinking Brugman or somebody said to pull the anthers off and wrap in a coffee filter. I've pulled some of the anthers off mine and stored them in a film container in the freezer but haven't had to use it yet. I wish I'd known about saving it this summer when I had plenty.
I would love to have a sample of pollen with which to pollinate my first brug blooms (Jamacian Yellow will be blooming before too long now).
Prefer pollen from an orange or a pink brug.
