Good morning everybody. I am up early this morning. Hubby, the cat and I are all on the early schedule for some reason. The fire is crackling away in the woodstove and the house is already feeling a bit warmer. It won't even be light out for another hour. The stars are out bright, the wind is from the north at about 5-10 mph, the thremometer says 20*, chilly is the word! Ruth it does sound like musical pens with the cattle. Sometimes it gets like that and everyone has a different idea of how it ought to work, which makes it even more fun. Eva Mae, I hope you are rested now and feeling peppy again, you do so much that it just catches up with you and you need a rest day. Jewell, I was sorry to read about your young ewe loosing her lambs, it is so disappointing and doesn't help financially either. Like you say, it could have been one of many reasons. Yesterday I skied with my neighbor, she has been doing cross country for several years. We just went out into one of their meadows across the fence from us so I just stepped over the fence which only sticks up about 18" above the snow although it is a 3 1/2 foot fence. I learned that I am doing most of it right, and learned a few new things as well. And I didn't fall down! We are going to try to go again today but will have to wait for the overnight ice to soften a little. Yesterday's temperature got up to almost 40* so that melted the surface and now there will be a hard crust frozen again. I keep waiting for new snow but we have only had a dusting in a week. It really does give me a good workout in the fresh air, a good way to work off the Christmas goodies. Have a good day everyone, count your blessings.
