Need something to do

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

OK, we are going to have to start another scientific discussion or something. There are too many unripe pods in my green house and I just want to rip them open to see what's inside. I planted all the seed I got in the mail this past week. I even planted some of the suaveolens seeds, though, I think they were too green. I've cut all the leaves off the brugs. They look like sticks with a few leaves at the top. I've swept out the green house. I sprayed for bugs. I potted up all the seedlings that were big enough to handle and counted and recounted the little ones just in case more had popped up in the last 5 minutes or so. I dug thru the dirt for any seeds that hadn't sprouted and peeled the ones that were still good. I pollinated all the blooms, even used the pollen Poppysue sent me. I collected pollen for later (Wally found the little bottle and ate it though, wonder if he will sprout?) I was too "chicken" to try the colchicine. Now I'm sitting here reading the posts and watching to see when a new one appears.
I'm needing something to keep my "paws" off the pods!!! Somebody help quick and come up with something we can discuss, even if it's more fantasy than reality.
Geez, I've gotta get a life!!!

Do you think that stuff they sell in place of bandaids would work instead of duct tape,I think its called New Skin?Or how about grafting wax?

what pretty pods. cala, maybe you can just go pick the ittiest bittiest one and cound the seeds...lol. i know the feeling, i broke some of mine open too soon. i can't put them in the trash though.... i throw them outside just in case. i have 2 pods of valleywhite (they are different than suavolens, mine look just like earl's), skinnier at the top, and one VPX that might get moldy on me first!!

Cala,
I have a zillion baby purple wave petunias that need repotting....come on over....while you are here you can also pick the leaves off the bucket of Brug cuttings. :)

Here's something you can ponder for me. Would the datura plants root with the log system that has been discussed in this forum? I have a couple of datura that I have potted up that the stalks are still alive. As a matter of fact they even have a few new sprouts. I was thinking about taking the stalks and log them. Any thoughs.

Sounds good, when shall I come down, tomorrow?? I have to be back Monday morning for the school bus. Think I can make it. I planted some wave petunia seed just to have something to do. Do you know how long they take to come up? Oh goodness, I will be looking at them everyday now!!!
GRC, I say go for it!! Try those datura logs and see if they will root. Daturas are bad to rot instead of rooting and you may be on to something.
CC, the Nu Skin sounds good, I may have to try that. I've been doing good so far, I walk over to those pods, check the pencuncle, squeeze the pod to check for softness and then back away. I repeat this as needed, lol.
Arlene, I cut a couple too early. The JO pod seeds were mature enough, I think. The suaveolens, I left in the pod, closed the hole up as best I could and they are still fresh inside. I open it every now and again to check and see. I planted 10 seeds yesterday just to see.

Cala,
Stay out of those seed pods!!!! LOL

I can't tell you much about the petunia seeds....I had a pot of the dark purple waves hanging on the deck. I placed a wide pot on the floor under the petunias....the petunia seeded and the seeds fell into this pot and are now growing. There are a whole lot of little plants growing. I repotted about 10 yesterday and will do more tomorrow....no Idea what I'm going to do with all these. Maybe I'll bring some to the plant swap in March.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Glory, I've had that happen with petunias and also portulaca. I was thinking of bringing some other stuff to the swap as well as some tags or maybe some Osmocote or Waersorb crystals or something. Everybody else has the same brugs that I do, because I've begged them from everybody here.
I will try to stay away from the pods, besides, it's dark out now and I can't see them!!

Glory, please bring some of those petunias! i have some seeds but i still have seed fear.

Calalily if you are really looking for something to do I have a spare pair of overalls, hammer and nails and could use a couple of extra hands building the greenhouse....beside I am a great cook and will feed you well!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Sure, but you will have to come get me, I don't drive in the snow :-) I have overalls, they are more comfortable since I outgrew my jeans!! I need to go stay with someone that's a terrible cook and then I could lose weight.

Cala - do you have a list of what's in your GH? Good. Now go out there and move everything around according to colour. Make another list. Now move everything around again according to suaveolens, versicolor etc. Make another list. Move everything around again according to height. Make another list. Move everything around again according to desirability. Make another list. This should keep you busy for at least a month. Let me know when you're done. I can give you more lists.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Liz, I've already done that, how do you think I hurt my back??? Besides, when I'm in there moving them, I look up and see the pods, I forget what I'm doing. I have to check the pencuncle, squeeze the pod, just in case it's ripened in the last 5 minutes. I took cuttings of my passion vines, they are just nubs now, poor things. I've GOT to get something else to grow. I planted petunia seed but they aren't up yet. I planted the seeds I got from Brugie and Roz. I went thru and picked up the pots that have cuttings in them to see if the roots were coming out the bottom. I rearranged the plants on the heat mat into alphabetical order.
Do you think I have spring fever? Is there a cure?

Arlene,
I will bring some of the petunias..forgot about the plant swap....Thanks
How about some Red Lion Amaryllis...I can bring a few of those if you think anyone is interested.

And I thought I had it bad........I planted onion seeds today due to boredom. No pods to look at or try to keep my hands off of though. Just boredom.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Glory, those are pretty, i would be interested and am sure i am not alone...the ones i have came from yardsales and swap meets.
BORED LADIES ALL: Please come here! the dh started kicking up today, told me we look like white trash, told me he is going to clean up the yard tomorrow and throw my stuff away! so there is a container of round up and cat litter container with watersorb under the oak trees out front, and tons of pots with plants in them out front, pots with dead plants in them and the DS put some brugs from inside right out the back door...... we can pull out the flash lights, hide my goodies, and maybe he will help me get some more beds together tomorrow instead. Where is the fat and lazy support group, gotta go join, wish i were up to date like you guys!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Oh, I think I need one of those red plants too. Yes Arlene, we are bored.
