Wanted:Blueberry Seeds
Just wondering....Does anyone know where you can buy Blue Berries seeds???? Have done Search's nothing....Hope someone know where..They just show roots in catalogs...!
I have lots of wild blueberries in my freezer if you want some of them to try. The seeds need to freeze to germinate so they should be okay.
Gee, trailingon...That would be great...I want them for Jianhua, When they are ready, let me know what you would like to trade or what ever...How would we use these...If it would be that all I have to do is freeze the kind I buy, I could do that....I have no clue, what to do...Let me know....thanks for posting...Wantabe...
I don't see any seeds for Blueberry here . =( But still looking for another place ok.
Wantabe gardener,
I don't know what you would do with them, I only know my back yard is full of them, they reseed and spread. With our winters I know that the seeds freeze before germinating and that they like sandy soil. Will gladly sase for them. email me and let me know. If anyone else would like to try some I have lots.
Thanks for WGardener and RRose):
Trailingon:check the email.
And i am still searching for more blueberry seeds.
(please see 'wanted:blueberry seeds'in Intel Forum for more info.)
The seeds are tiny and inside the berry. I don't know how hard they would be to germinate but I'd winter sow the berries (fruit and all) to see if they'd sprout in the spring. With many berry type seeds the rotting fruit aids the germination process ... The wild blue berries would be your best bet. The types you buy in the grocery store are most likely hybrid high bush blueberries. The seeds might not be viable in those. Let us know if your successful. Blueberries grow wild all over here... the birds spread the seeds.

I know more about it now.thanks.
Hybrid or wild--both are wanted.
Anyone who possesses, email me.
We can have the trade by
Seeds--seeds/little gifts/Sase
The blueberry seeds need to be planted in January, according to my garden encyclopedia. They will not tolerate any lime in the soil. I have some from the ones imported here from Chile, drying on a paper towel, and will send them with other things. The label didn't indicate which one was grown. Next spring I will get some from La. woods, they have larger seed, not as plump fruit. I will be interested in knowing what results are produced from the different kinds, Jianhua. It appears you have plenty of agents gathering them for you.
Aimee:
Yeah,i will continue collecting edible blueberries.
Agents like you will be benifited--providing you some
native fruit seeds, such as yangtao, longyan, mango, piba, and so on.
Dear young man, you don't have to trade for these, just enjoy them. I only hope they produce for you. My books suggest propagating from cuttings, but that probably won't be allowed, so you will be the first person I know who starts them from seeds. Who knows, maybe I can be a small part of some wonderful hybrid you invent by having all of these seeds with which to work. I admire your youthful enthusiasm.
