tropical sunset doesent say variegated

CC...I didn't think Tropical Sunset was Variegated unless there is another type out there.

Glory, I have one I traded for that is called Sunset. It looks very similar to Peaches and Cream except the leaves are a bit fuzzier. Hasn't bloomed yet so can't tell if there is any difference. How much difference is there between the leaves of Maya and Peaches and Cream?

Brugcrazy,
I'll check tomorrow and see if there is any difference between P&C and Maya leaves....I do know my Maya leaves are very large.

Is Maya a faster grower than P&C? I want to get a variegated one in the spring but I remember someone saying P&C was a slow grower. I need a fast grower for this part of the country.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Snow, it was for me. the funny thing was the new growth started fast and then slowed down. i rooted several, had to cut one back to get it in the mail, sent them all out. brugs are supposed to be fast! i have heard, and i know CC says maya is much faster....

Thanks Arlene, I'll keep that in mind.

Franktown, CO(Zone 5a)

Both pics are great!

I had no problems growing either one but like Arlene a friend of mine here has had nothing but trouble with her's. I do find the P&C a little hard to root....they tend to rot.

Dee
check this hyperlink out....scroll down to third picture....notice the Maya is not called Tropical Sunset but just Sunset.

Brugcrazy...guess you do have the Maya.

Brugcrazy,
Just went and checked the difference between the leaves of the Maya and P&C...just like you said....the Maya has fuzzier leaves and thicker...my Maya hasn't bloomed yet either.

Thanks for the link Glory. I guess I do have Maya. Sure looks pretty similar to P & C but then lots of brugs look like each other. LOL

Brug Charles Grimaldi > they say is a "fine rich apricot"can have hundreds of blooms at once>. (REALLY???)

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

mingsmimi, i don't think CG has a fine rich apricot color.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

thats just a quote from their magazine. Like I said. I have no idea. Thats just what they say.You have one? Or have seen one?Go to www.selectseeds.com and see what they say.

Sharpsville, PA(Zone 5a)

if you go to their website, under"search;'write in Brugmansia, its the first photo that comes up and that is what they claimand there is a photo also.

Glory,

Thanks for the hyperlinks. I left Friday morning to go visit my grandson (3 yrs old) and just got back today. Trying to catch up on all the emails and postings here. I feel like I am lost.

When I look at my P&C's, I have 3 and got them from 3 different places, 2 look just alike, leaves anyway since they are babies, and the 3rd one is different, all 3 are variegated, 2 are green and almost yellow white leaves the other is green and white/cream colored. Now Earl from Valleygrow said that some people call it Tropical Sunset, but I had only heard it called P&C. I bought one from Glasshouse works and they had it labeled "Brugmansia Sunset". They are all supposed to have peachy colored flowers. Is there another variegated one. I thought that I had seen somewhere that there is a variegated white. If so what is it called. Guess I will have to wait and see what color it blooms. I must say though that the green on these look more like yours than the Maya. Thanks for the help though
