http://www.gardeners.com/sell.asp?ProdGroupId=15146&searchterm=organocide Anyone try this stuff? It would be worth the steep price if it's effective on all it claimes to be. Sesame oil... I wonder if you could come up with your own concoction.
Too good to be true?
Poppysue, I think it is the oil that smothers the bugs. I think Ultra-fine oil spray is cheaper.
I cook a lot of Asian foods and stirfries. Have Sesame oil from the grocery store in the fridge. Think I could use that?
I wonder. Here's the product info http://www.organiclabs.com/organocide.htm I'm thinking if you added a teaspoon of sesame oil to your sprayer it would be just as good. Let us know if you try it Liz.
Warm water in the sprayer makes the oil easier to use. I bought Neem Oil (not the Safer's neem stuff) 99% pure neem oil, and it's a great spray for bugs, is an insect growth regulator and is also a good fungicide. It's completely safe to use and you can eat it if you can stand the smell!! Just be careful and don't spray when bees are active as it will kill them too. (It doesn't seem to hurt the lady bugs, just the honey bees)
I use to chop garlic up in the food proccesser, mix it in cooking oil, strain after a few days, mix the oil with water and add to spray bottle,to spray for bugs, stopped when I figured out just how difficult it is to get it off the slidding glass doors
CC sounds like me with Tee Tree oil on my windows!
I'd LOL but its not funny!
I thought I was the only one who got stuff everywhere except where it went. What is really nice is to be spraying the neem oil (stinks to high heaven and lingers forever) and walk thru the mist I just caused. At least it's not poisonous, they use it to keep their gums healthy in India.
Johnnie detests the smell of tea tree oil or the alcohol spray. I have to remember not to use them when he's home.
I kinda like the smell of the tea tree oil. Clean smelling and it doesn't stick around all that long. It does make a mess on the windows though, I agree. Maybe I just need my glasses changed so I could take better aim.
