bathtub?

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

We discovered that we have to tear out one of our fiberglass bathtubs because it's leaking. I have been thinking of a way to use this outside, and I have always wanted a water garden. Any ideas how I could do this? I'm wondering if I could bury it ground level and landscape around it? What about drainage and things like that? I know so very little about water gardens, and I'm hoping someone can tell me if this will work or not. Thanks.

You don't need drainage, you can siphon the water out of you need to empty it,or use a pump, just leave the top of the tub a few inches above ground level, you don't want rain run off running into it.You can line the outsides and cover the rim with flat rocks. You can silicone something into the drain to hold the water or buy a liner to lay in the whole thing.I just saw a thing on tv where someone recycled a tub and 3 sinks. The sinks were used for the waterfall and they went down to the tub. They lined them all with cement ,but I don't think you have to.

Thank you crestedchik! I hadn't thought about the rainwater running into it. It sounds like this really will work. I'll be on the lookout for something to line it with now. DH is going to have a fit when I want to save the old tub for a landscaping I think. LOL! He'll get over it though. Thanks for all your suggestions. The idea of using sinks for a waterfall is intriguing too. Hmm....I wonder if there's anything wrong with the sinks. LOL! I think I could always add that later if I wanted to.

I think you can look that episode up on HGTV...realy made a nice water feature in a really nice garden...DIL wants one, and you can pick them up in salvage yards (the sinks).
