i like it, wish i hadn't killed my cutting!

Glory, you're a doll! Thanks. This isn't going to end up looking like a Frosty Pink is it? Maybe all our newbies should be warned about Frosty Pink before the buying/ trading season starts.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Liz, i vote for another 100 post frosty pink thread.... mine is now "my frosty pink", have no clue but i got a "frosty pink" from brugie, will see in the spring if they match!

(Zone 6a)

Rapture pic is beautiful. I have one Frosty Pink growing....don't remember who sent it to me:)

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

I think after the last 100 posts on Frosty Pink we were back where we started. I was beginning to see them under the bed!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I agree with Liz, I was seeing them in my sleep!! I was looking at all the pinks and wondering if the "real" FP would please stand up.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i think some of the nurseries have slightly different plants labeled frosty pink, seems like it.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Not my favorite brug. I didn't have a many blooms on it as I did any of the other varieties. Might have been because it didn't get as much sun, but who knows. I'm afraid that when I weed out, Frosty will be a gonner.

Brugie, that's odd, my FP bloomed all summer, but it did get quite a bit of sun.

Susie,

I think I developed a dislike for that brug one summer when I fought the spider mites on it and none of the others. It was placed on the front deck this year and just got about 3 hours of sun. Probably all my fault. I'm not sure it got the fertilizer like the others did either. I know it didn't because I didn't want to carry the bucket around to it. Now I have found that just tossing the granules on the soil and washing it in with a hose works just as well as pre-mixing. Never too old to learn. Still don't like FP though. I'll break down and keep her. Can't stand to throw anything away. That means that by next year I will have to move out. The brug population just keeps growing and there isn't room for many more.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I know that feeling. That's why DH broke down and gave me one of the green houses at the garden center. We couldn't get into the house anymore, lol. I did have a terrible spider mite problem with FP this summer and none on any of the others. It took lots of spraying with pyrethrum to get rid of them. I also cut a lot of the leaves off when I brought it in and that seemed to help.

So beautiful~ I can't wait mine to have flowers bloom.

Glory,

think it is the shame as JO/CG/DrS...

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

was that a Freudian slip?? LOL!!

LOL

FSH, TX

Okay, are all three of those hybrids the same? I am getting so confused. At any rate, I like the hybrids resulting from them regardless.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I have Charles Grimaldi and jutner's Orange blooming now and they are exactly the same. Dr. Seuss has a bud, we will see if it's the same. I got the Charles Grimaldi's from 2 different places and they are the same too.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

ok guys, wasn't on purpose!! i read drs was the daddy of CG, don't know if true. i got CG from JJS, DrS from VG, and JO from KHT...i can't tell a bit of difference.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Arlene- Charles Grimaldi was a Bartley Swartz hybrid from years ago in northern calif. He went on to hybridize angraecum orchids after not having much luck with growing brugs.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Arlene afriend of mine in calif. was the namer for Dr suess after the author of the same name in Pasadena area.Dr Suess came after Charles Grimaldi

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Eclipse, thanks so much!!! there is so much bad info out, and could be my brain, about drs being CG's daddy.. don't you think they are very much alike? and if you don't mind me asking, who are JY's parents? beautiful pics of her

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

arlene, I meant the shame part :) I've got a fever, please love me anyway!! even if I pick on you??

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

ms tig, i knew what you meant! bless you, hope you get well soon and of course i love you! was kinda funny though, wasn't it? i had a root canal wednesday, have deep long roots, and my jaw hurts, not a little, bad! even with prescription pain medication it is throbbing! hopefully that's the last one of those i'll have to have.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Sounds like a couple of my friends are really under the weather. Arlene and tiG, I hope you both get well soon. Growing brugs is much easier when you feel good.

S.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

so sorry!! those aren't any fun, I know. hope we're both better soon!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

At least you have a great sense of humor feeling good or bad. I know fever isn't fun and I've been through the tooth problems too. Don't envy either of you with these problems. Hang in there.......has to get better.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Hope you are both feeling better very soon.
((((Arlene)))) ((((tiG))))

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Arlene...JY ???? I hate these abbreviations.. LOL Elaborate for me??

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

I am so sorry and lazy!! Your jamaican yellow, it is one of yours isn't it?? i promise to try to spell for a while.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Eclipse,in case Arlene isn't around it's Jamaican Yellow.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

gone2seed thanks!! :-)

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Beautiful! I don't have Rapture but do have frosty pink. Can't wait for it to grow big and bloom!!!

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

apparently, rapture is the same as cg, or was it ds, heres the link to vickis site that explains the history of the naming of rapture. http://home.att.net/~perennials/GalleryOddsnEnds.html

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

this is the kind of thing that Kyle was talking about. If it's really one thing, why does it have a second name?? It should be listed as Dr Seuss.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i knew all 3 looked the same to me, if i had only known... i bought JY from earl and it wasn't. was given a versicolor peach that turned out to be isabella... and "orange" that turned out to be unknown pink., and "CG" that turned out to be white hybrids. none of my first 5 was what they were labeled. has all this virus talk scared everyone way?

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Once again - away for the weekend and I miss everything. you're telling me that Rapture picture at the top is the same as CG/all the others? $%#@*$!!! Darn.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

well, CG and Dr S aren't the same, they are just very similar. So there are 4 names, two plants. Jutner Orange=Charles Grimaldi and Dr. Seuss=Rapture

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

bet they are both out of the same cross though...i have all 3....they all look and smell the same to me...
