Any one interested in this stand let me know and I'll send the instructions Via email....cost about $30 to build...not counting the lights.

That's cool Glory. Is that how you made yours? How many trays do you think you can get on there? It looks nice & narrow. My hubby made mine from plans I got from Jonny's years ago. One thing I hate about them... they take up too much room. But they collapse for storage wich is great when your not using them. I think I scanned the plans too. I must have them on my hard drive somewhere.

I saw some plans like that a year or so ago but misplaced them,I'd love to have another set!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I'd love to have both plans

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I can't find them - guess I didn't scan them. But I will. I'd like those plans Glory. Do you want me to send an SASE?

Ok.. I scanned it & added to my journal http://davesgarden.com/journal/viewentry/10904/index.html I have a couple copies of the directions but I can make more if anyone wants them. TiG you want a copy? It's simple construction - but you'll need a saw and drill.

Me too Gloria....Thanks!!

Can never have too many light stands and that one will take up half the space for twice the plants.

Shirley

Poppysue,
This stand comes apart as long as you don't glue it together. I think it holds two of those black seed trays per shelf. I used wooden shelves that I had and put the trays right on them....it uses two lights so it is 4 ft long. What I like about it that you can hang the lights by chains and adjust the height of the light depending on the plants. I also covered mine in foil to keep the heat in and the seedling grew like wild fire. This all fit very well in my utility room...out of the way.

Glory - could you send to me too? This looks like something even I could put together.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

TiG, I think you will need three or four of those stands!! I bet your DH will even help you build them so there is more room in the house, lol.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Cala, I moved a bunch into the back bedroom today, it has two windows, thought that would help make room for more seed trays in here. Didn't help a bit! I do need these!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Poor TiG, you need a green house. A BIG green house cause you are like me, you have to have one or two of everything. And then there are the seeds and seedlings, can't part with them because they might be really nice when they bloom. At least I know when I share my seeds with the DG group, I will get a piece back if it's good.

Cool stand Gloria lucky me I don't need one but if I did I would build this one for sure...

I searched the web a bit and found a PVC stand that's about twice the size of glory's with double the lights. This one can be printed from the web http://www.carlnet.org/~ttsdaly/plantstand.html

All kinds of PVC creations out there - you can furnish your home with the stuff - LOL! http://www.thepvcstore.com/projects.htm

Hi Glory,

Can you send to me too? Thanks, Dee

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I made one ... I made one!! Well... DH did most of it =o) I was able to shame him into helping me today since he wants to go ice fishing tomorrow ;-) http://davesgarden.com/showthread/169142.html

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Another great light stand. Sue, what did you use for the shelving and did you attach it to the PVC or what?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Poppysue, that is a nice shelf. I could probably do that and we already have the cutter!!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

This is made so you don't need shelving - the trays fit right accross the bars. However I've decided I need shelves! I can tell it's only a matter of time before I dump a tray or two. Just a piece of plywood layed across the bars would do. That wire closet shelving would be nice but that might be costly... I'll have to check it out.

This stand is nice and compact tho and it takes up much less space than my big wooden ones do. I already want to make another one... With more space between the shelves.

Poppysue,
I think the one we built had 18" between the shelves.
