Need some help here. I have a Golden Chalice Vine flower blooming right now and a Versicolor Peach Brug. I would like to cross pollinate them....since they are both in the same family.....but what is going to be the best way? Should I take the pollen from the vine and pollinate the Brug or the pollen from the Brug to the vine?
I could try both ways.....I'd appreciate any input. I know this my not work but I'm game for giving it a try.

Brug to Chalice Vine
Hey Gloria, I'm planning on doing the same thing when I get the iochroma plants I ordered. Can't hurt anything to try both ways and may not work at all, but I'm giving it a shot.
Good luck!!
S.
Glory, I would try both ways, just in case. It won't hurt to try and I'm anxious to see if it works.
Ok y'all I did it....pollinated both plants. Maybe we'll come up with something strange.
All this genetic stuff we've been talking about, you might end up with a "Swamp Monster" or the "Brug that ate Mississippi"! I've been watching too much late night TV while I've been doing all this visiting and traveling.
hey Cala, did Lauren have a good time? did she get plenty of this snow?
Cala,
sounds like you need a nice long rest. LOL
She had fun in the snow and we got home just in time. I woke up during the night and it was snowing and it still is. We have over 4 inches on the ground now, it's not too cold and Lauren is out with the neighbors sledding down the hill. I guess our hills are good for something after all!! I did go out and take a picture and fill the bird feeders. Boy were they hungry, they didn't even wait for me to get out of the way.
sure am glad we didn't get anymore. they were talking about ice and snow mix, but thankfully that must have missed us.
Kinetin and GA-3 applied directly to the stigma as a spray before the pollen is applied and crossed both ways would be my bet. Of course I wouldn't count my chickens nor would I give up trying until attempting a few hundred crosses on varying days. Super Bloom 2 is available at walmart which has kinetin in it. GA-3 is available from any number of other places. I would personally think crossing aurea to arborea would be easier, but one must never give up without trying and just because one does not succede does not mean it can't be done.
how are you going to know if the pollination you did took or if a bug pollinated it?
CC,
I guess if the Brug developes a pod I will know one way worked cause right now I only have one Versicolor Peach blooming.......since the VP can't pollinate itself the pollen had to come from the Chalice Vine.
Oh ! I thought you had more blooming
