My Brugs

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Here's my brugs that I had to move them all in here from outside yesterday cause some of them got freeze burn. The cover and light did not work good. When the temp going up and no freeze then I move them back there. LUCKY, we have lots of room space for them here in Living room for a while. Right now it is in 27's. Some of them got freeze burns on leaves, leaves eaten by caterpillar ( I killed few), few had buds. So Now I am loooking for cutting of Butterfly, Ins. Pink, Double gold, Double White..

Took by Intel PC Camera Pro cuz my digital camera battery went dead and now it is charging......

That is still a good picture. The one with the really yellow leaves, did it get too cold?

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

I had one brug that grew with yellow leaves. It was the Sunray and I had a hard time getting used to it. As it got older, it did finally turn green, but each new leaf had that yellow look. As it ends up, I didn't like the bloom color either. Not yellow, but more greenish. Definitely one that will go bye, bye.

Brugie....green color is next to blue in the spectrum. May be a good brug to use for making a blue one

girls, you can buy double white and many others at http://www.nativehabitat.com for a great price. I bought quite a few earlier this summer and I know they have a good reputation.

Another good place with reasonable prices is at www.valleygrow.com I have bought a lot here and had good luck with them. Besides, if your order is over $30 the shipping is free. Now that isn't a bad deal either.

Don't know why that didn't hyperlink, but just copy and paste and it will work.

I'm really zone jelous. My cuttings look pathetic compared to all you southerners. I'm debating on lugging my light stands back up to the dining room where it's warmer and the light is brighter. Hubby's ready to kill me =ol

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Poppysue, I just told my hubby that I needed another stand made to attach another light to. He asked me when I needed it and I told him yesterday, so he came in and did some measuring on some of the others he has made and I'll bet I have it tomorrow morning. He had to go to town today or it would have been done tonight. That will make three on stands and one hanging from the wall, a directional one, and I have a small HID over a table in my computer room. I never mention the light bill. In fact, I never let him see it. Just have to take care of all these plants. I too wish I lived in a warmer climate and I'd have a greenhouse I could use year round. Two more months and I'll move into mine. Just too cold under normal conditions, but today is in the low forties. Can't beat it for January. Supposed to be almost 50 by Tuesday.

I now have eight lights in the living room besides all the windows and such and it still isn't enough. Hubby hated to put more hooks in ceiling (we hang them from wires so I can raise and lower them) so he strung wire from a couple of hooks and put the new lights hanging from them. The ceiling looks real funny, but my babies are doing great, so I'm not complaining.

Nice and sunny here today....but sure is cold; below freezing. Am setting up more shop lights for another table of brugs this week:) Can only put 4 in large pots under one light, and crowded even then. Will have 4 lights soon:)

What we won't do for our plants. :-)

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh - I'm not new to setting up lights. I have two big stands that will hold about 10 trays each - and zillion extra shop lights I've baught cause I never have enough room for all my seedlings. I've rigged lights up every which way in this house. DH is always paranoid that the FDA will come bursting in in the middle of the night to see what we're growing in here!! I have my cuttings on a stand in the cellar now. I think it's just too cold and dark down there - even with the lights. Maybe if I batt my eyes and talk real sweet he'll help me haul it back up stairs ;o)

well, at least they will live downstairs, I have a lot in our bathroom, low light and cold as a witches ..well...you know. And they are putting out growth real good. Just depends on if you want to give up the room upstairs.

Calaliy, No It have been yellow since I got them cutting. I don't know why.... Brugie_ maybe it was from the Sunray.. I don't know but I am going to wait and see until it bloom if not pretty, I would let it go bye bye bye... And some had yellow then turned green.. That's why I am going wait and see....

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Well I don't have any lights set up, but I have alot of windows on the south side including a patio door. That is supposed to be the "family room" but I have all my plants in there. I just tell the hubby they are family too. I saw where Brugie posted a website for valleygrow. I happen to live about 45 miles or so from him. I have been over to his place a couple of times. Boy you just wouldn't believe it. It literaly looks like a jungle. He has all kinds of things. Will post when I plan to go over if anyone wants anything.

Try epsom salts on the yellow leaves. Mix a tablespoon into a gallon of water and use it as a foliar spray. It has magnesium which helps green up foliage. You can water with it too but they say the best way is to spray the leaves.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Mini, you might also try citrus fertilizer, i think i saw it at walmart about 1.79 for 4 pounds...it has minors in it which may help. if all your cuttings are in the same potting soil, that would be strange, though.

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Dee, do I know you? Ever made a white oak basket? Where is this valleygrow? I need to go there obviously. I'm an hour from Chipley.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Gingerlily,

No I don't think you know me. I haven't made any baskets. Valleygrow is outside of DeFuniak Springs right off of 90. If you are an hour from Chipley, where bouts are you. I live just south of Chipley, about 17 miles south of I-10. If you want the specific directions let me know what direction you are going to come from so I can lead you in. All Earl asks is that you email him in advance with a day and approx time so he can make sure that he is there. I have his email address too if you need it. (not the one from ordering on line). Can you tell that I have been in contact with him way to much, but really you would just love this place. Not much right, because he has moved most everything into greenhouses, but he will still walk you around in and out of the greenhouses. Dee

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Arlene, Yes all are in same potting soil.. Strange!!!

NOTE::: Everybody!!! My Becca Lynn bud is starting open... OH I can't wait and I am going to take pic and post it. It will be my real first BRug that going to be bloom!!! HOrray!!!
