Is this one of the variegates Maya or P & C or is it something different? http://www.plantdelights.com/Catalog/Current/Detail/04199.html

CC, I wondered the same thing when I saw it.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I find it really sad that this is how we spend our New Years....But thanks for being there snowhermit!

My Maya hasn't bloomed yet but my P&C starts out with white flowers and they change to peach....leaves look pretty much the same.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

CC, I never go out on New Years.Too many drinkers on the road so we stay at home where it's safe.

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Have to add a P&C to my collection this year . I think this is one new years resolution I should be able to keep

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Looks like a P+C to me too. Irish- I've got a piece for you if you want to email me

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'm with you Snow, just a lot safer at home. Besides, it is too cold to go out during the day, let alone the night time hours.

I also have a brug here that has variegated leaves. The person who gave it to me said she had not seen it bloom, but that it grows fast and she is right about that. I'm anxious to see what it is. Are there a lot of brugs with variegated leaves? It has very pretty and heavy leaves. I also have peaches & cream and it grows much, much slower.

Brugie,I'll bet yours is Maya,I have one and in 1 month it grew twice as much as my P&C did in 6 months!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

CC, that probably is what I have because mine did just as yours. And, the leaves are very large. Hope so, because I kinda like having names to go with my b-rugs. :-) If it blooms well this summer, I'll be sure to post and see what you think or just send you an email.

Someone that has P&C, do the leaves look "weird" compared to the others? Does it like it warmer than other varieties? I did find a few aphids on it today and will spray tomorrow.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

My P&C has normal looking leaves. Right now I'm keeping most of them pinched off so the strengh goes to the growth point. I've had it growing for probably three months and it hasn't grown over 4-6 inches tall at most. I've not had a problem with bugs yet on it, but my niece is having an aphid problem. My bugs are just mites and most of them are in the family room where I don't have as much humidity. Also forgot to mention that my P&C is on my heat mat and directly under a grow light. My mat is set at about 75*.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

My mat is set @ 65, I hate to turn it up. There are 3 25' mats on that same thermostat and a few degrees means more dollars in the heat bill. I had moved it off for a few weeks and I think that's when the leaves started looking "weird" so I think it's the cold. My green house thermostat is set on 45, but a few times it's gone down to 42 before it kicked on. It hasn't hurt anything else except maybe Cypress Gardens and of course my orchids. (they are on the heat mat now and will stay there if I have to stack them up!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Ouch!! That probably would keep the meter cranking. Mine is up right now because I've been germinating some seeds. As soon as they are up and going, I'll put it back down to about 70 and since I'm doing this in the house, it will rarely kick on.

I gave my orchids away because I couldn't get them to bloom. After many dollars of purchasing the right pots, the right medium for growing and reading everything I could about growing the kinds I had, nothing happened. I gave it up after a little over a year and no progress. I love them, but I have to see results and they weren't doing it for me.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Mine bloomed and were doing great. They are making new sprouts, but the leaves look awful. Some of mine have put up 3 spikes this year. The dends, phals and cymbs are all fine, just the vandas couldn't take the cold. They are fussier than the brugs, that's for sure!!
My brugs are germinating on the heat mats set at 65, it just takes about 3 weeks for them to start coming up. The little seedlings are tough and don't stretch in the bright light/cool temp combination. The cuttings root pretty good too, as long as I don't overwater them.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'm jealous. Wish I had all the room to do those brug seedlings that Eric is talking about, but not going to happen here. Hope you guys come up with a great double pink.

I did get some sangs to come up. I think I now have 4 out of 5 that have germinated. Might have been six that I started with but have had no luck with the aurea seeds. Out of all of them that I ordered, not one has come up yet.

Oh well, there is always next year.

Ms. Brugie, don't give up on those seeds, sometimes they take a long time. also, am dying for maya, if you will save a piece in case my local one doesn't come through. got rid of my P&C, too slow for me.....

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Okay Arlene........It is only a foot or so tall now, so it will be a while.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

thanks, Ms. Brugie, no rush, i should be able to get a cutting from robin when hers grows enough, will let you know if i do.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'll have it at some point if you need it. Without strong lights and greenhouse conditions, the brugs don't grow fast for me. Once outside, they go like crazy, but I would too had I been limited to indoor conditions for months. Heck, I did GO like crazy just getting out and to WalMart yesterday. Felt like a new person. The reason I asked you the question in the other thread about Ins. Pink is because I was a little blonde myself. Have to ask to be sure. Thanks for being patient with me.

My peaches and cream grew very quickly. Got it as a small plant in June, flowered in November. It has a very nice shape and is covered in buds again. I got a cutting of Sunset and the leaves look the same but the ones on Sunset and hairy. I'll guess I'll just wait and see.
