How fast do they grow? Should I wait or start now? I don't want them to big my the time to plant.
Should I start my Datura seeds yet?
I would think planting them around first of April would be plenty soon enough. I have raised Moon Flower that way.
HoniBee, I started several different Datura last year.I started them in Feb. because the packets said they would germinate in anywhere from 30 days to 2 months and I could'nt plant them out till May.I germinated them next to my woodstove and found that the heat made them germinate much quicker.I wound up with them in every window in the house and then put them in the greenhouse after we started the heat the last day of Feb. They were full grown and flowering before we could plant them outside.I kept notes on their growing habits so hope this will help you.I started them in 6 packs next to heat with a clear plastic cover over them.

snow,
Thank you so much for the information. You sound like you had some very pretty ones. I only have the metal one.
The lefleur, was blooming in the 6 packs for me,never saw a plant start blooming so small and young!!
Just today,I found my one and only seed pod soft on the outside from a freeze, it never did split. However, the seeds inside seem very firm and a rusty brown color - do you think they will be ok?? This is from a purple & white double dat.
They should be fine. Take them out of the pod and spread them on a paper towel to dry.
I already did that, I sure would hate to lose them since I have only that one pod. Thanks(:
since some places have outlawed them because they reseed ,chances are they can take the cold
Good thought C Chick, I feel sure now they wil do just fine and I planted some in a pot today in the GH.
