I got this for Christmas-Strelitzia nicolai-Its huge and Ive never tried to grow one-so Evert i need any tips you know! how many hours of sun does she need?
It has a new leaf going to open and 2 more shoots popping up. Help me not kill it PLEZ!!!!

First of all, don't repot your new white bird. They do much better when potbound. The more direct light these plants get, the better they do and the faster they grow. However, they can adapt quite well to medium (indirect) light quite well. Allow the top inch of soil to dy before watering thoroughly. Do not be concerned by easily torn leaves. Nature made them this way so that the wind would not blow the plant over. Watch for spider mites and mealy bug. Fertilize sparingly.
Give it lots of sun! It needs a sunny place, and cool in winter, about +10 would be good. Mine don't look too good right now, althought they're seedlings. My Strelitzia parviflora hasnt's germinated yet.. boring.
Farmgirl..looking at the link Hyperlink..has a message(basically, can't access!!! A white strelitzia, WOW!! potbound is good...orange one of mine has bloomed! So that's why the leaves rip and palm trees have open fronds! Elaine
