I need everyones address that wanted to participate in the Double pink hybridization experiment. If you have any pinks...I would prefer they be crossed to aurea pink types like Rothkirch, Rosabell, Butterfly-etc...but any pink is fine. Second-would you rather me start these seeds and send everyone cuttings or rooted seedlings? I don't think there is going to be enough for everyone this first round. Another option-I keep and grow these seeds and send out the next generation of seeds already crossed to Butterfly, Rosabell, or something similar. At any rate, I need everyones address who is still considering being in this group and how many they can grow each year and what kind of growing conditions they will be employing. Ie, growing outdoors in Florida-growing in a green house up north or what have you. I am going to give myself and the weather a few weeks to cool off and warm up before I make up my mind as to send out seeds or simply hand select the best seedlings to go out. I can root several of the best seedlings while they are still green of course before sending them out so at least two of each seedling I like goes out to two different people in the group.
Addresses needed for Double pink group
Brugman,I can easily grow out a hundred or so plants in rows in my vegetable garden. If the need arises I could even take in some more space.

Brugman, i will be happy wait for seedlings/cuttings....let me know if you need some kind of help.
I found a completely dried up seed pod on JO yesterday, seeds almost black....
Brugmansia... Right now all I have is frost pink and insignis pink and a double candia white I can grow a few at a time. I can wait for the second generation if you are shot of seeds or cuttings.

Just had a after thought and haven't notices if anyone said anything about it, coast of postage.Think the person receiving the Ideams should pay as in a sase or sending stamps I belive we as a group should make this a clear understanding so no one person gets stuck with the coast over a period a time it could add up
Pete
I would like to participate in your experiment.
I'm in zone 7,but do have a heated GH.
Brugman,
I would like to help....I can wait for the second generation. I have emailed you with my address.
Put me wherever in the line. I have several good pinks to cross too. I will be growing in ground and pots full summer and heated greenhouse next winter. I have full sun and partial sun conditions outside with plenty of room. This winter I have plant rooms with grow lights. Emailed you my addy. I agree, we cannot let anyone get stuck with the cost of doing all the mailing, etc.
Glad to see everyone posting so quick, but if everyone could simply email me with Double pink in the header so I don't delete this email as I don't always read all of my mail. That will give me everyones e-mail addy as well and I can simply create a folder to email everyone at the same time as well. I only have about 7 seedpods or so as this frost snuck up on me-pulled in several Brugmansia last night with frost damage already on them. I can then simply cut copy and paste this info all together and print it out.
GreenLeaf,
You are more than welcome to participate. Everyone who participates will be agreeing to raise seedlings, cross them, and share the resulting seeds, seedlings, and cuttings with the group. I would like to see some suaveolens and aurea crosses done-but I won't hold anyone to anything. Heck, I even made a ...

posted while you were typing, and sent email. good cliffhanger there!!
I would love to join, but am concerned that without a greenhouse up here in Iowa that I wouldn't be able to get the seed pods to mature in time. Maybe I'll try on my own and if I get something neat, I'll share with you and join in later.

You have mail!
from me too!
Eric....I can grow 4 (preferably rooted seedlings or cuttings). Whatever you decide is just fine with me:)

oops, didn't put how many I can grow. Up to 400. will have to till another garden to do more.
You have more mail, and I forgot to include how many too. maybe only 20 at this time.
Tig,I thought I had big gardens with two 60x100.What size are yours that you can spare the room for 400 without tilling another garden. If I decide to grow 400 I will have to take part of the pasture from "the queens of the universe".
Just trying to sort through the e-mail right now as some of you have emailed me more than once...Lol, its okay-but I am going to go through this and decide who can realistically grow these to flowering size the quickest. I don't like to put all of the eggs so to speak in the same basket either and I wish I had enough seeds to send everyone a few thousand-but the darn freeze came and stopped my hybridizing on a large scale. I can only set a few seeds in the winter and have only a few seedpods from the double whites that are mature. 7 seedpods to be exact....I can assure you that we will get an early start on the seedpods this spring though as I have several double oranges inside and a few double whites of varying parentage. If I have not replied to your email yet do not take offense as I have to bring many of my plants inside and outside each day as well as my other duties.
tiG.....I would have to move my house off my lot in order to grow 400. LOL
Owen
well, I do live in the country and we plowed a huge veggie garden last year. but I don't have the advantage that FL gardeners do either. Sometimes room isn't all you need:)
Eric, you decide whether to grow them on your own, or whatever, we trust you and all of us have something we can be hybridizing in the meantime.

Tig-you can rest assured you will get some of the first seed. In the mean time-ck out the above site for some pretty pinks.

Just some idea's for pollen or seed bearers...Lamour, Rothkirch, Butterfly, Rosabell, Ecuador pink...I will be working most extensively with Butterfly and Rosabell and encourage everyone else to do the same as I think some nice shapes and colors will arise from those-but the others I have listed should be excellent as well. Ocre is another excellent one for shape-although the color is a bit orange. Isabella is more for repeat bloom characteristics, wide flaring blooms, fertility, etc.
brugman - you are such a tease! You know we can't resist L'Amour! We saw it- we want it - we NEED it.
hmmmm, have an Ocre and Butterfly. Might put that down as one of the first crosses.
sorry - should not have posted on theis thread.

L'Amour is my favorite one on that site.Liz is right. We don't just want it, we NEED it.
Lol,
Snowhermit and Liz-I have been searching for Lamour for quite a while. I saw a picture of it on a German site once and I tried to contact to no avail. Now that I know the name I must confess its still on my want list.
Brugman, hope I'm not too late. I have a green house with heat mats for starting seedlings/cuttings. So which ever you want me to do. I can start the seeds and send them back to you when it gets warm.
