Red Maple Seeds?????????

Brooklet, GA(Zone 8a)

Hopefully someone out there can help me. Today I noticed what appears to be seeds from my red maples falling to the ground. They look like pine tree seeds. Are these really seeds and if so how do I go about planting them. Do they need a cold period or what. Thanks for any imfo.

I'll take a pic of red maple seeds tonight and post in the photos forum for you. If the maple is Red Maple (Acer Rubrum), you can just plant the seeds, don't let them dry out.

Seeds fell into my parents' yard were gathered up 2-3 weeks ago and some germinated already.

The seeds that Tim sent us have also germinated! I'm tickled pink. I can't wait to say in 20 years..."Look here, youngin's, I grew this from seed". :)

Thank you both for your help. When the weather clears here I will plant them and see what happens. We are in for three days of rain. I know we are low on rain for the year but if this keeps up we will float away or at least my potatoes might.
