Okay guys who have a cutting they will send me in spring or now if they want of a red? Hmmmmm

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

You can get seeds of the sanguinea on e-bay for between 2-4 bucks.Check it out!!I bought some, they germinated fast, but then my peacocks did some pruning and killed all but 1.But I still have it,not big enough to take cuttings from. But buy the seeds, its a economical way to get a few.

Diane, I have some sanguinea seedlings that are about 6-8" tall. Bad thing is I don't know if they are red or yellow. I can put your name in one now and mail it to you in the spring. LMK

RedRose, you, like many of us are too far south. The red ones won't stand our hot summers.

My sanguinea did terrible this summer. We had record heat, every time it got around 90 it started loosing all its leaves. And I had it in the shade. Can't even picture what prolonged periods of heat would do to it!

Redrose,
The only way you can get the sanguinea to live in your area is to grow it inside the house with the Air Conditioner on. It is not just the heat that the sanguinea doesn't like it is our humidity...we have to much humidity.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I am wondering if it would live here? I don't want to kill one if I get it.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Tig, put my name on one too please,if you have one to spare. I think they will live in our cool climate...

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I don't want to share my post. LOL

I have gotten a few sanguinea's to make it here for 2 years at the most outside in Florida. I know that they have bloomed from seed and do better in the mtns of NC and further north.I know a few people in Maryland have gotten them to impressive size/blooming stature.

Do I sense gloating? Do I see pairs of pruners aimed at overgrown Brugs? Do I look like an obsessive personality to you all? Did I end up with 83 new hostas in one season??? John

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

THANK YOU...JOHN, FOR HYPERLINK, I CAN'T WAIT TO GET RED BRUGS THAT I WAS HOPING GET SOME, I LOVE THAT COLOR RED. IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

RR, they won't bloom above 70*, I'm as optimistic as the next person, but they just can't take our weather. you might be much happier with one of the darker pinks. and take your red in another plant, just a thought.

Montrose, PA(Zone 5a)

YOU KNOW I'VE BEEN TEMPTED TO GROW ONE BUT IN WINTER I HAVE VERY LITTLE LIGHT. WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

MG give it a shot! If I can grow them you can too. If you keep them potted you'll just need to bring it in in the fall. They're easier to over winter than you'd think. Here is a good page about over wintering http://home.att.net/~perennials/winter.html

Montrose, PA(Zone 5a)

poppysue, THANKS NOW THAT I'VE SAW THAT PAGE I THINK I CAN DO ALL THOSE THINGS! I CAN'T WAIT I.VE ALWAYS LOVED THE LOOKS OF THEM!

FSH, TX

I sure wish I lived up North like the rest of you. Thats not keeping me from trying to work with the red ones though. I am going to pray for a Roter Vulkan x Ida...Ida x Roter Vulkan...Roter Vulkan x Flava...and many such hybrids this coming winter....Heres hoping I can just keep em alive this year and get a bloom though. Someone has to breed me a more heat tolerant red.
