Live in Tucson AZ -Had these things flying around my kitchen lights the past 2 mornings- I have a very clean and clutter free house and have no idea where they are coming from....just praying they are not anything that eats wood- can you tell me what this is?
Flying Ant? What Is This Insect?
Most likely a sweat bee (family Halictidae) - see https://elp.tamu.edu/ipm/bugs/bees/hymenoptera-halictidae-agapostemon-melliventris-honey-tailed-striped-sweat-bee-g-2/ for an example. Just an accidental intruder, not a pest to worry about.

Oh my gosh....thank you.....I was worried that they were some sort of wood borer....still don't know where the hec they came from....but from a few days of sucking them up with the vacuum wand I haven't seen anymore....thanks so much!!
