I saw this plant in someone's yard, (Florida Zone 9b) and asked for some cuttings. She let me pull up the whole plant, and I was so surprised at what the plant actually looked like! It was really laying down, with the flowering part obscuring the leaves of the plant. Got home and the clump just didn't work in my space so took the plant apart and will root a bunch of stems w/o the flowers, before planting. Anyway:
The first picture is what I saw, that prompted me to ask for cuttings.
The second picture is a shot of the leaves that grow near the roots -- the leaves didn't show at all until I pulled the plant up -- it looks like kalanchoe leaves but the flowers aren't right. I ran the overview photo through Google Lens but haven't found it -- GL showed lots of calluna vulgaris (heathers) that look similar upon closer inspection, but not a match.
The third picture is a shot of the flowers close up.
I hope you can click on these pictures to enlarge them -- the thumbnails showing in the preview are pretty useless....
