After reading Dave's thread - http://davesgarden.com/showthread/152309.html - concerning the security hole, MS Outlook is also worth a mention. Most, if not all viruses written today, are using the Outlook "format" to spread to other users. A virus comes into your computer via email, the email is opened and then (unbeknownst to you) everyone in your address book gets an email containing the virus.
A few years ago, Dave recommend a very good FREE email program named Pegasus. After seven plus years, i am still using the program and recommend it to anyone using a PC. For more information, go here: http://www.pmail.com
The newest version looks similar to Outlook but does not allow those viruses to automatically run as soon as they are received.
