AZ 8b, near Yarnell. This is an O\'Henry that I planted bare-root 3.5 years ago, and this is the first year we have loads of fruit. Right next to it is a Veteran planted at the same time with even more fruit but does not have this problem. The fruit are currently about walnut size. It looks like something is eating at the just skin on many of the fruit, but I can\'t find any critters. It doesn\'t look pecked at, it looks more like the skin is scraped. Reminds me of the rasping damage that slugs and snails do. See pic. I can provide more pics if needed.
Weird Damage To Peaches...
This looks like rodent damage. Possibly rat but more likely squirrel. It's a matter of convenience as to which tree and what fruit. I have the same problem with all my wild peaches (6) but not with the one hybrid. No idea why.
