When is the best time to start herbs in the greenhouse for outside planting in the spring. And what herbs do not start well with transplanting.
best time to plant????
jcf: Perennial herbs can be started 3 months before last frost date. Rosemary is very slow to germinate and to grow--give it more time than the 3 months. Annual herbs like basils, which are very fast growers are to be started 4 weeks before last frost date. Dill and fennel I would give about 6 weeks before last frost date. Hope this helps.
Sage was another slow starter for me and I've had trouble transplanting Dill and Cumin. Use the peat pots for them if you can.
