My granddaughter caught this on their front porch and I've tried to find it on the internet, but had no luck. Any ideas?
Trying to identify this spider
An orb weaver in the genus Araneus; likely Araneus gemmoides - see https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cat-faced_Spider_-_Araneus_gemmoides,_Coldstream,_British_Columbia_-_02.jpg for an example. Like several other species in this genus, its color pattern can be quite variable. All orb weavers are harmless to humans.
