Rose of Sharon, Shrub Althea 'Freedom'
Hibiscus syriacus
The Freedom rose of Sharon grows really fast, especially during summers with plenty of rain.
Rose of Sharon, Shrub Althea 'Freedom' (Hibiscus syriacus)
I ordered two tiny plants from a newspaper insert ad about 22 years ago. These bloom from mid-July until mid-September and reach 12 - 15 feet tall by late summer every year. In winter we cut them back to about 5 feet tall. They do not make seeds like our other Rose of Sharon shrubs.
