This rather large (maybe 3") dragonfly was in the garden this morning. I've been unable to ascertain exactly what it is. I'm thinking perhaps a dragon hunter but not sure. I've read they will eat monarch butterflies which I raise so I'm really hoping it is not a dragon hunter.

It looks like a twin-spotted forktail, Cordulegaster maculata - see https://wiatri.net/inventory/odonata/speciesaccounts/SpeciesDetail.cfm?TaxaID=59#:~:text=This%20large%20black%20dragonfly%20varies,separated%20pairs%20along%20its%20length.
Thank you so much!
