What is this large (approx. 5cm body) spider seen in my garden in N. Georgia and can you estimate the number of babies she is carrying? At first I thought she was very hairy and dirty and then realized she is covered in little spiders!
CLOSED: Spider ID please
A wolf spider (family Lycosidae). They exhibit a good deal of maternal care.
Thank you. Thought it might be but didn't know about their unique way of carrying around offspring.
