On crushed rock in the yard. Very southern edge of the Phoenix metro.

It's a wolf spider (family Lycosidae); it looks like Arctosa littoralis - see https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo/arctosa-littoralis.html?sortBy=relevant for some images. Although often called the beach wolf spider, it may be found in nearly all inland states.
