branch with seed pods

This is the branch on a JO Brugmansia that I cut off before we had a hard frost. The plant was growing in the ground beside my house. It came thru several light frosts but I got scared when they said it would be below 30 and cut it off.I put it into this big pot and set it on the heat mat. I'm still waiting for the penduncle to turn yellow.

i have a JO with two pods sitting in a bucket of water with lots of roots on it (shame on me).

Arlene, I've not had lots of luck leaving them in the water after they make the little nubs. How do you keep the stem from rotting? Do you put anything in the water? Do you cut all the leaves off that will touch the water? I've got so much to learn.

i am sometimes lucky and sometimes i am not. here is proof of my laziness: every once in a while i dump the water out and put in fresh. i almost planted it last week but i decided to mail it to someone. those JO seeds do take a long time i think, longer than some of the others. i wonder what JOs background is, it must be similar to charles grimaldi's with their likeness. and i wonder why i think its LBJ calls it a versi, lists it with versis

Arlene, I was wondering too. It's calyx is definitely not a versicolor and neither is the pod. The pod resembles a suaveolens, but not the calyx.

and i read that true versis never have serrated leaves.
