Farmers Markets

Today saw me at the Winchester farmers market, Hampshire holds one a week at different places around the county and all are very good. Without mentioning any British colloquialisms its was incredibly cold! They have been holding these markets for 2 years now and I don't think I have ever been to one so crowded and with so many stalls, it was wonderful to see people getting cash out of their pockets and asking the traders questions about their produce, some had sold out by 1pm.

I don't know about other countries but the array of sauces, jams, jellies, pickles, chutneys, beverages and herbal preparations was bewildering. Several beekeepers were their with waxes, candles and honeys, some rarebreed and game farms were also represented along with a couple of candy stalls as well as the meat, dairy and market gardeners. Now I have to find recipes to go with the produce we bought! We also tried the rarebreed pork and beef cheeseburgers which were well worth the wait and frozen toes.

What kind of produce is sold at you local farmers markets and do any of you sell produce there?
