Can I place a grow light over a hanging String of Bananas houseplant in a medium light area?

I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you, PPP. However I would like to add that I have been researching the subject of indoor grow lights and am thoroughly confused and frustrated by the many contradictions I have found! I am not an accomplished gardener and live in an apartment with no access to the outdoors. I was smart enough to get an apartment with south facing windows though! :) So, can anyone who really understands and has successfully grown indoors with supplemental light please help explain what really works in this age of LED lights and the still present fluorescent lighting?
