Amazing brug. I think I'm having southern weather envy right now. It's been raining, windy and yukky for weeks. Is that you Arlene?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Gosh Arlene - don't get lost in that jungle! Zone envy here too. As I was babbling to DH about ordering the Preissel book he says - "What IS a brugmansia anyway? Is that what those sticks in the basement are?" - I've only been talking about them for the last 6 months. Anyone want to come up here and throttle him for me?

FSH, TX

Simply Beautiful Arlene. Most of those are under a year old aren't they?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Arlene!!!! So nice to meet you, you are such a dear, and I've been wanting to. I love the overalls!!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Arlene
nice to meet you!! I too wear overalls. I'm so jealous of those huge brugs and your weather. It's been warmer here this winter but we've had a couple of killing frosts so the brugs in the yard don't have any leaves. Those are gorgeous plants.

Surry, VA(Zone 7b)

Arlene, nice to meet you and your brugs are beautiful!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

So glad to meet you Arlene. It's great to put a face with the lady that got me started with this Brug addiction.LOL
You look younger than what I pictured. You sure have some beautiful Brugs.Great picture.

Arlene,
come out, come out where ever you are. I hope this is not going to be your one and only picture that we will see of you..we need one to see your lovely face. If I can do it anyone can.... Anyway nice to finally meet you.:0)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I love that picture!!! It looks like jack and the brugstalk, oopps, I mean beanstalk. And glad to see you Arlene!!

Hi Arlene. Nice to meet you. You kind of look like me in those blue overalls, when I do house repairs as I am right now. The little brug, - did you get it pottet. If it was the brug above and below you, the little one was hiding behind, it could easily have been white without it being an aurea. I am amazed, how large and your brug is. You sure have the zone and the skills to feed it right.

Woodstock, ON(Zone 6B)

Hi Arlene, I see you peeking out from the forest. If you can't find your way back to the house, you'll have to leave a trail of breadcrumbs. He He As usual your brug forest looks great.
/Regards Annie

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Owen: Please post your Xmas cake recipe for everyone.

ROFLMAO....sorry y'all that was just a typo...I left the y off of your. LOL

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Hi, everybody, Annie was so good to meet you, just wish i could have loaded you up. let me know if/when the seeds come up. that brug was planted last year, came back from frost. it had six main stalks that all branched, i am sure it makes a 15 foot circle. there was another same kind behind it, cutting this spring, dug it up and gave it away, was over 6 feet. what i call frosty pink is in front, an X white to the side behind that you can't see another FP, the tall thing sticking up in the middle right is a variegated chaste tree, sure didn't expect it to get that tall, planted it this spring. the rest of the brugs are farther back and in pots, except for two more FPs, one at each end of canna/banana bed. lots of new ones in pots. we are having a great winter like the one before last, had a cool week around Christmas, enough to frost stuff back, low here was around 25F that year, i had lantana that bloomed all winter.

glory, this is probably as close as you want to see me.... wasn't going to post this, but i realized there were no blooms left on those brugs, so thought i would.

i hope everyone will post their old brug pics this winter...

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Finally we get to meet both Arlene and her Brug jungle.
Great job Arlene.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Helloooooo Arrrrrlene!! Great to see you. Sure with you could figure out how to grow big brugs though. :-) Do you have a gym for them to work out in or what? Great looking plants.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Perhaps she's been giving them steroids? Maybe it's something in the water?

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Brug farmer Arlene, great shot looking as good as your brugs
Pete

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Looks like I have a lisp. Couldn't spell right in that last post, again!! Wish, not with. Sure glad you can all read my mind. Well, maybe not all the time though.

Arlene, what are your plans for the iochroma? Going to experiment with a cross to a brug? Wish someone could do it. I'd sure pay the price to have a blue or purple brug. Anyone hearing this? I'd bet there would be a lot of people who would put out some bucks for one. I don't even know if I can cross two brugs yet.

Florence, AL(Zone 7a)

Iochroma??? Arlene's got an Iochroma? Post pics AT ONCE, young lady!!! And pleasssseeee e-me with details---I want one SOOOO bad!!!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Ms. Batt, not yet, saw them and didn't buy, but this one expensive nursery in town will find anything for you....except brugs! gonna call them and see if they still have or will get me one.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'm ordering mine from Kartuz Greenhouse. They have several colors. Only problem is that I felt I had to order enough plants to justify the $9 shipping and handling.

Florence, AL(Zone 7a)

That's what's been holding me back from ordering from Kartuz, too. And they have several hundred dollars' worth of stuff I want, but they expect me to PAY for it...Isn't their catalogue just yummy?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

The only reason I can get by with ordering now is that it won't show up on the credit card until they ship it out. Won't look like I'm really buying out ALL the companies at the same time. I'm really drooling while I wait for my double pink brug along with some others that I have ordered. I just hope that when they get here, they will grow like crazy for me so I can share with everyone. If I get the iochroma plants and can figure out how to propagate them, I'll share with you MsBatt.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Ladies, will try to get to that nursery tomorrow, and let you know. sure wish i had bought the one, it was some shade of purple if i remember right, $7.00 for one chest high in the pot. i could make a ton of babies out of one of those. can't believe i didn't buy it, i was thinking bet i could trade for one.....

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Arlene,

I'd bet that the ones I'm ordering aren't nearly that size. Hope you get one, and if not, you know my number....

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

Hi Arlene, So nice to see you. Very beautiful brugs too. They look normal to me, mine got that tall and two that were on the East side of the house got more water than the others and were about 10-12 ft.tall. I thought this was what they were supposed to look like.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

nice to meat you too, busybee.... did they get that big the first year? i can't wait to see how some will hopefully do this coming year, just had one planted in the ground last year.

Longview, TX

Im in 7b-8a (TX) and the cold has gotten to my brugs outside. It is very hot here in the summer. So, you northerners don't feel tooo bad. Arlene is just lucky...lol.
I have Iochroma on my want list. If anyone can propogate please trade with me. I would appreciate that.
