Looking for Silver Thyme (Thymus vulgaris 'argenteus'
Why yes, yes I do... And how are you on lemon thyme? Happy to share, Dave! John
i have both, i can share if u wish ;)!
Dave, the silver thyme, after a while reverts back to green. mine has been on the ground for 3 yrs., part of the plant turned to dark green. i do not know how that happens. do any of u gentlemen know???
MaVieRose, many variegated plants seem to 'revert' back to green. It is important to remove the plain green parts to maintain the variegation. I have not seen this with Thyme, but my variegated Lemon Balm has completely reverted. John
John, the Silver Thyme is half silver and half green. the Lemon Thyme is just as they are. both variety has tripled in size. i have them outside growing in the cold weather we are having these day. our nightime temp is in early 20's, whereas daytime weather fluctuates in the 30ish and 40's. this is the first time in so many years, we have this cold weather. normally the winter snow comes sometime in Feb. thru April. we has snow from last month, but not as heavy as in ur area. snow here last only a day or two, so no problem is shoveling :). the mountains are awesome, heavily laden with snow.
can i interest u with some Lemon thyme? ma vie
Thanks, MaVieRose, but I have plenty of the Lemon Thyme. It is my favorite, perfect with chicken and fish. Love the thin gold edge on each leaf. John
John... French Tarragon is also good w/poultry. i love sage for pork, but then again depending of recipe one is also cooking. thyme & bay leaf are what i consider to be versatile herb, i love to use in cooking.
Oh yes, French Tarragon with mushrooms and poultry. Sage with pork, absolutely; also with veal. John
