What a great photo. Do you know I bought one over 20 years ago in a plastic bag with a cartoon Cobra on the cardboard from the late Western Gardens in Hayward and killed it in record time. Maybe it was 30 years ago..long before the internet.

LOL. If I had a dollar for every plant I have killed, I would be so rich!

Ah Western Nursery!!! Maybe 42 years ago, I drove from Oakland to get some cymbidium orchid bulbs. I do not think I really even knew what they were but I so wanted 1 after seeing an ad for them. If I recall correctly, 1 look and I went ick. LOL But several years later, I found a huge staghorn there for maybe $50. I wanted it so bad! I went home and begged my husband. It was so much money, I thought. LOL And Tom really thought so. He said yes! Little did I know, a few years from that $50 was nothing for me to spend on plants.

Have you ever been to the one in Pleasanton where they moved? OK, nothing that unusual though I only went a few times years ago.

I went with a friend and it was sort of Martha Stewart land. No botanical oddities...mainly cottage garden stuff.
I'm down to Dry Garden and ebay mostly. I can't hack the long drives, heavy traffic to Flora Grub,Annie's Annuals...even Berkeley Hort is pretty much out nowadays. I used to make all the rounds.

We would have had fun, Stan going all over together!

No doubt. As I reduce the potted plants ( saving water) I find that these days,I replace the open spots with something else I picked up over the decades..fancy rocks. Petrified Wood,Malachite,Quartz. Long before that became the thing to do..so my rocks are not boffo great looking..just like "Here,Stan, you want this?" from friends over the decades lol.
