Where did you get this? I had a great one that was growing all over my dining room.......until it dropped dead.

Hayward, CA

A hobbyist on Agaveville sold it to me at cost $15. I couldn't thank him enough. It's been on my bucket list plants for decades. When I did see them?..out of my price range. He's in Texas where this plant is easier to get and grow.
I think he's selling the rest for..more. lol.
Now,this won't be sitting outdoors in winter. I know what our cold rains can do even if no frost. I can see it already,ha. Indoors looking like a pet Tortoise.
I think Kell..it might have been growing on reserves in the low light of indoors for you. It might require summer outdoors...then go dormant indoors.
Funny that neither you or me have a greenhouse after all these years. I worked in one and saw the miracles they can do for years.
Just no room at my home. Where there might be is too shady.

I got mine from Berkeley Horticultural Nursery for $20 and it was really big! I wish I had bought more. They had a table of them, all dormant. I think I did not water it enough. I was always afraid I would rot it.

It got lots of light, the whole ceiling is skylights. I have mostly cactus and succulents in there. I moved them in years ago for winter and never moved them out! LOL My husband was not happy.

Yes, a gh would be heaven. A real big one! LOL

I looked at EBAY..and they are $90-180. A certain local nursery always has them beyond my price tag. Three figures easy.
You never know when buys are brief..or that's always it. I have some nice crested Myrtle cactus (2 of them for one price) I got at HD for $20 or so. I see one selling for $75 on ebay..and up. Not even sure if it was as large as HD's.
As always it's when you want something NOW..when they are at the highest price.

LOL I read your crested Myrtle cactus as crepe myrtle. I have bought at least 10 crepe myrtles from HD. They always had huge ones that hardly fit in my big station wagon. When my yard filled up, I would then buy them for friends. So I was agreeing with you on the price at HD but wondering how much it would cost to mail an 8 to 10 foot standard if you bought 1 on eBay. LOL Then I went back and reread your post.

I love crested Myrtle cactus! Lucky you! I finally bought 1 on eBay and it was a small, unexciting mistake! I think you can get great ones in the LA area too.
