You can see how the calyx hangs on in this photo. The stuff in the hanging baskets I needed up off the floor, so I set the smaller pots in the baskets.

Calalily, its a killer fruit! I wish I could grow fruits like this one. I am not confident with the abbreviations. I imagine, that JO is Junters Orange, but what are the others? :)

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Tonny, JO-Jutner Orange, EP-Ecuador Pink, FP-Frosty Pink, JP-Jean Pasco, SW-suaveolens White, CG-Charles Grimaldi
I think that covered them all.

when you wrote SW, I thought it was Shredded white at first.

Gosh, I wasn't even thinking! :-) Just reading and looking. I'm amazed at all these seed pods. Can't you just imagine how many people one seed pod could make happy. Great Pictures Cala. I'm learning from them.

Just to have 1/4 of that many pods next year will make me a very happy women. :)

Shredded white x Culebra..now that would be a cross. EVERYONE here already has SHREDDED WHITE THOUGH..and the candida species....tons of Culebra out there as well...Guess I am going to have to make a much more common cross...say aurea white x culebra....

Brugman: How about culebra x with a pink. That would be beautiful.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I don't have a culebra or a Shredded White.

Calalilly,
And Just exactly what is your excuse for that? Just kidding. Did you want those two or were you waiting for another time?
Brugcrazy,
I have Culebra crossed to Butterfly and Rosabella. Both wonderful pinks. Heres hoping something wonderful comes of them so I can share them here with all of you.

Brugman: Those crosses sound wonderful. I'll keep my fingers crossed too. Still not sure if my culebra is putting out buds or not. I'll take a picture when they get a little bigger.

Brugman
I just learned about the culebra when the folks here started posting about it. Personally, I haven't decided if I like the Shredded White though I think I like it better now than when I first saw it. I got my first brug 3 years ago, the Jutner Orange, and then added suaveolens white and Frosty Pink. I really thought I was doing great when last summer I got an Ecuador Pink. Now you all keep showing me new hybrids. I used to collect Hostas and other shade loving perennials, now I'm thinking about cutting some trees so I will have more sun for more brugs. This is a terrible addiction, and I haven't even looked at my new hosta catalogs.
Now Poppysue keeps showing us sites in German and I've just mastered translating the French. Guess I will have to learn a few basic words in German.(like "do you speak English, or maybe a little French)

Cala, Come next summer I should have plenty of cuttings to share thanks to the generousity of these kind people. I don't have the beautiful new hybrids that are posted on the sites but I'm sure I'll have something that you would like. You have to have at least one of each. Hehehe!

Calalilly,
Well, the Shredded white is something of a collectors item among Brugmansia growers. A few are trying to hybridize it in various colors, personally I would like to see it in hot pink. The Culebra, well its a collectors item as well, but I personally wanted it to hybridize with when I saw it. Mainly because I like odd shaped leaves, flowers, etc and small flowered hybrids. That, and the fact that is just about the most unusual Brugmansia overall in my oppinion. Its bound to have some untapped potential for would be hybridizers lurking somewhere in there.

You all keep your fingers crossed for my shredded white and if it does okay, I'll share. It is looking good so far. I was thinking it would be cool crossed with a bright pink just like the culebra. I'll first have to tear a bloom apart to see where to go with the pollen. This shredded white is a strange looking bloom, but I'm like Eric, I like the unusual.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Cala, if you don't get a Shredded white before spring, I would love to share with you. Mine is about 4' tall now, and needs repotting something fierce. Hope to get some potting soil and do that today, it might bloom for me this winter if I do!!
