Friday Dec. 7

Hello farmers. We have another absolutely beautiful day, bright sun shining on snow, blue sky and just a very light breeze. Yesterday we had a warm spell and even some rain. It wasn't enough to make things slopy, just enough to settle the snow in places where it wasn't drifted. The drifts are still deep, very hard to walk through. The pasture road will have to be plowed before I can use it, but I did walk through the drifts to open the water hole. The horses had it pretty well pawed open so there wasn't too much to do there. We have a stray cat that showed up, he is a tom but doesn't want to fight, just hungry. It seems every winter we get at least one, our house cat was a stray 3 winters ago, but the ones that have showed up since have all been troublemakers. I saw some blood on the snow and fur in the barn, rabbit. Then I looked for bones but found none. Maybe he got away. There was one in our parking area this morning, the dog went nuts and I looked to see why, bunny was just sitting there. I think the dog (inside) saw him hop there. Hubby will be home tonight. He called last evening and said one of the other students who lives about 100 miles from us was going to ride part way with him and his wife will pick him up in our town, so we are going to meet for dinner.
