Planning what you plant around your pets

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 5a)

I don't know about the rest of you but I try to plan what I plant around my pets. For example, I recently saw a picture of some lenten roses and was desperately looking for some seeds. Then I found out that Helleborus is poisonous. At least christmas roses are. So, even though I really wanted them, I decided not to buy the seeds based on this. I doubt that they would try to eat or the any of the plants but I'd rather not take any chances. My pets are more important to me than a pretty flower. I always try to find out whether a plant is poisonous to dogs or pets in general before I buy/plant it. However, I do have at least one or two that I know of that are poisonous but that was before I knew better. Also, they are in the front of the house so there is a much smaller chance of them getting into them.
