I want 1! LOL

I've never seen this for sale. Only at the Berkeley Botanical garden about 8 years ago. I jumped on it!..a puny yellowish one gallon plant. They hate pots.
I tell you Kell,I've tried making cuttings..and nothing ever took. The cuttings collapse far sooner then the roots can ever form. Even UCB says they do seed grown only. I might try to see if I can collect some ( not good at that!) this year.

It is great you got 1 then. I wonder if Annies Annuals has it.

Just checked, yes they do. http://www.anniesannuals.com/signs/v%20-%20z/wigandia_urens.htm

I think I have seen it there too, in their garden blooming.

They dont need much care or water. Semi fast growing. The only downside is that frost will stop it from blooming and those big leaves will turn black. Every three years since I've had it..its been zapped more or less. Eh,frost happens. I still like the plant.
Otherwise, its great and why its been so hard to find all these years is a mystery.
Oh,one thing very important..I have THE NON STINGING form. I can touch mine all day and nothing happens. I see Annie's plants might be the stinging form. Strange because I would have thought there origin is the UC Berkeley plants.
Its a great plant..its like a giant leafed ficus crossed with a Jacaranda.
Not much danger it gets invasive in nor cal. Maybe a creeklet in SF or Oakland..that's about it.

Interesting there is a non stinging form. I bet Annie's would love the seeds. I too think lots of her plants have their origins at Berkeley Bot.

I asked her a few years ago if she was interested. She told me no. "They have a source" I think she added. Ok!

LOL Her loss.
