Hi everyone, i am new here and looking for some advice. I rent a large old farm house on top of a hill, that is very exposed to the wind. I do have a few trees on the SE side of the house but that dose not help. I am looking to plant a hedge on the South, southwest, and east side of the house. Would that help? The hedge would be around 5ft or 6ft. Thanks.
Old farm house garden
I like cotoneasters or lilacs. They grow relatively fast. The birds like the berries on the cotoneasters and the lilacs smell wonderful in the spring. Do you have these in the UK?
Yes the classical old garden very inspiring to me...
Hey there, welcome aboard! Planting a hedge is a great idea to cut down on that wind, especially around an old farmhouse like yours. A hedge on the south, southwest, and east sides can definitely help block some of the wind and even protect your place from soil erosion and chilling winds. At about 5 or 6 feet tall, it’ll act like a natural windbreaker. Plus, it’ll add a nice touch of greenery and privacy. Just make sure you pick the right plants that can handle the wind and grow well in your area. Good luck, and hope it turns out great!
